Willi Castro Launches First Home Run Of 2021
4 years agoDetroit Tigers shortstop Willi Castro went yard for the first time this year on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals. He hit a solo shot that produced the only run on the day for the team as they fell to the Royals 2-1. It was his only hit in the game as he went 1-for-3. Castro is now slashing .216/.247/.324 on the year, a disappointing start after he slashed .349/.381/.550 through 36 games in 2020. Many of his underlying stats this year look similar to last year and some actually look better. His average launch angle is up to 18 degrees this year, compared to 11.3 degrees last year, and he's seen his average exit velocity rise from 85.3 mph in 2020 to 86.6 mph this year. He's worth a roster spot in all leagues of 15 teams or deeper and all AL-only leagues. If he heats up, look to add him in more shallow leagues as well.
