Scott Barlow Records Two-Inning Save On Thursday
4 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Scott Barlow became the latest Royals reliever to earn a save on Thursday. Barlow came on in the eighth inning of Thursday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays and went on to pitch two innings, allowing two hits, no walks and no runs while striking out one. He earned his first save of the year and became the fifth different Royal to earn a save on the year. Royals manager Mike Matheny is going to be tough to predict in his closer management. Greg Holland earned his first save on Tuesday and that was his only appearance since Sunday, so one would imagine he would have been fine to go on Thursday. Holland is still the favorite to earn saves overall, but Barlow, Kyle Zimmer and Wade Davis are all in the crowded saves picture as well. Each of the four players mentioned above has exactly one save so far this year.
