Pirates Reportedly Claim Lewin Diaz Off Waivers
2 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates have reportedly claimed first baseman, Lewin Diaz, off waivers, per a tweet from The Miami Herald's Craig Mish on Tuesday. Mish tweeted: "Pirates claimed First Baseman Lewin Diaz from the Marlins off waivers per source." Diaz appeared in 58 games for the Marlins last season, logging 174 plate appearances and hitting .169 with a .224 on-base percentage, five home runs, and a stolen base. In 368 plate appearances with Miami's Triple-A club last year, he logged a .252 average to go along with a .323 on-base percentage and 19 home runs. The 26-year-old will give Pittsburgh another option at first base alongside Ji-Man Choi.
