7 days agoNew York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor (back) is back in the starting lineup as the Mets look to continue their playoff push against the Philadelphia Phillies. The MVP candidate left Friday's game early due to back soreness and was held out of Saturday's lineup as a precaution. This is a great sign, as the injury was not considered severe. Since the start of the month, the switch-hitting shortstop has held a .282/.364/.513 line with three doubles, two long balls, and two stole bases. Throughout the summer, the 30-year-old sits with an excellent .270/.341/.493 line with 30 home runs and 27 stolen bases. Lindor remains a high-end fantasy contributor and should be locked into all lineups down the stretch. Given his elite upside, he is always worth a look in DFS. He will face Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sanchez this afternoon.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Tim Healey

7 days agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho (shoulder) will remain out of the starting nine on Sunday afternoon due to a sore left shoulder. Mike Wallner of the Toronto Star reports that this injury has kept the 28-year-old out of the lineup since Tuesday. As a result, Nathan Lukes will cover center field and bat in the leadoff spot. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Varsho's status before their game on Tuesday evening against the Texas Rangers. Throughout September, Varsho has carried a mere .148/.207/.296 line. Lukes has tallied 12 hits across his past nine games with two of them going for extra bases. He is worth a look in DFS this afternoon as he will face St. Louis right-hander Miles Mikolas, who enters Sunday with a 5.55 ERA.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Mike Wallner

7 days agoMinnesota Twins first baseman/third baseman Jose Miranda will sit out on Sunday as the Twins close out a series against the Cincinnati Reds. This is the third time this week that Miranda has been held out of the starting nine. This is due to the Twins welcoming back Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa from the injured list. As a result, the Minnesota lineup has become quite crowded, and Miranda seems to be the odd man out. Since the start of the month, the 26-year-old has held a mere .244/.244/.311 line with just one double, one RBI, and no home runs. However, from June through August, the infielder posted a strong .343/.386/.544 line. As a result, Trevor Larnach will serve as the designated hitter. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Miranda's status as he may not be a reliable fantasy asset down the stretch due to his drop in playing time.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

7 days agoPhiladelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm (hand) was activated off the 10-day injured list on Sunday morning and will bat in the five-hole as the Phillies look to clinch a series victory over the New York Mets. Bohm has been sidelined since the end of August with a hand injury but will return just in time to boost the Philly lineup down the stretch. Before the injury, the 28-year-old carried a strong .272/.292/.412 line with eight doubles, two home runs, 18 RBI, and one stolen base in his past 28 games. Under the hood, he boasts a stellar .298 xBA, which is one of the best marks in the sport, and an excellent 13.6% K rate. Bohm should be locked into all starting lineups down the stretch and is a viable DFS option this afternoon as he will face Mets southpaw David Peterson.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Philadelphia Phillies

1 week agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios tossed seven innings of one-run ball in Saturday's 7-2 victory over the Cardinals, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out four on the way to earning his 16th win of the season. It was the 30-year-old's seventh consecutive quality start and 20th on the season. The 2x All-Star has been good at home, posting a 10-2 record with a 2.69 ERA, and has put together a nice season overall, with a 3.44 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 12.5% K-BB% to go with his 16-9 record.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

1 week agoCincinnati Reds outfielder TJ Friedl was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in Saturday's 12-1 win over the Twins. The 29-year-old homered for the second straight game and has now gone 7-for-8 against Twins pitchers the last two days, tallying five RBI and four runs scored in the process. Now the author of a .233-13-53-34-9 line through 74 games played, one wonders what that line could have looked like had he been able to stay healthy all season long. With his strong contact rate and low strikeout rate, he could still finish the season with a flurry of production.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

1 week agoBaltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson stuffed the stat sheet in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Tigers, going 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, two RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base in the contest. The 23-year-old is riding a six-game hit streak and has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games. The former second-round draft pick is slashing .375/.446/.750 in September and is following up his Rookie of the Year campaign with an even stronger season, tallying a .283-37-87-113-19 line with a .389 wOBA and 159 wRC+, trailing only Bobby Witt Jr. for the top-producing fantasy shortstop.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

1 week agoPhiladelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper belted a pair of home runs in a 2-for-4 day at the plate in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Mets. The 31-year-old drove in three runs and scored twice in the contest. Both home runs came off of Mets starter Luis Severino and gave him 28 on the year. The 8x All-Star is red-hot in September, slashing .400/.460/.689 in 12 games so far. For the season, the 2x MVP has a robust .290-28-82-79-5 line with a .386 wOBA and 149 wRC+, making him a top option at first base for fantasy.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

1 week agoMilwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored in Saturday's 15-8 win over the Diamondbacks. The 26-year-old's bat has cooled somewhat in September, slashing .231/.354/.436 for the month, but overall he is having a fantastic season, leading all catchers in fantasy with a strong .280-22-88-94-6 line with a .358 wOBA and 131 wRC+. He'll look to finish strong as September has been his second-best month batting average-wise for his career, hitting .308 during the final month since 2020.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

1 week agoMilwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames went 3-for-3 with a walk, a pair of home runs, five RBI, and two runs scored in Saturday's 15-8 romp over the Diamondbacks. The first home run came in the second inning with the bases loaded and the grand slam gave the Brewers an 8-0 lead early. The second came two innings later, a solo shot that gave the team a 12-0 cushion. The 29-year-old is having arguably the best season of his career, putting together a .253-32-107-87-18 line with a .348 wOBA and 124 wRC+. He's currently the NL leader in the RBI category while the 32 home runs and 18 stolen bases are both career highs.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

1 week agoSan Francisco Giants right-hander Jordan Hicks (shoulder) returned from the injured list on Saturday. Hicks was used immediately in a relief role on Saturday night, throwing an inning and giving up two hits but no runs in his first appearance since Aug. 24. Hicks has four wins and one save in 29 games this year covering 109 innings. The veteran has a 3.87 ERA and 1.42 WHIP this season for San Francisco, and his role for next year is undetermined at this time. Hicks began the year as a starter and was starting games through mid-July before the Gigantes moved him to their bullpen. Barring an injury heading into the offseason, Hicks will likely return to a starting role in 2025.--Mike Carter - RotoBallerSource: Alex Pavlovic On X

1 week agoLos Angeles Angels rookie Ben Joyce has a shoulder impingement. His MRI results were not shared at this time. However, we can assume at this time that his season is over. The 23-year-old has two wins, four saves, and a 2.08 ERA and 1.15 WHIP through 34 innings this season. Joyce could be the favorite to close next year for the Angels if they do not seek an upgrade through free agency. Joyce was placed on the injured list on Tuesday, and it would appear that his season is over.--Mike Carter - RotoBallerSource: Rhett Bollinger on X

1 week agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Martin Perez (paternity) was activated off the paternity list on Saturday afternoon. In a corresponding move, the Padres optioned left-handed pitcher Tom Cosgrove to Triple-A El Paso. The 33-year-old is now scheduled to make his next start on Sunday against the San Francisco Giants. Since joining the Padres in late July, Perez has looked quite solid, as he has posted a 2.84 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP across 38 frames. Earlier this summer in the Steel City, Perez held a 5.20 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP across 83 innings. Perez should continue to have a stable position in the Padres rotation going forward and could be worth streaming in deeper leagues in favorable matchups despite his modest strikeout potential.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: San Diego Padrers

1 week agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder/infielder Tyler Fitzgerald (back) is not in Saturday's lineup as the Giants continue a three-game set with the San Diego Padres. The 26-year-old left Thursday's game early with lower-back tightness and will need at least another day to rest. As a result, this opens up the keystone for 23-year-old Marco Luciano. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to Sunday's lineup, as Fitzgerald may be cleared to return to game action. Since the start of the month, Fitzgerald has held a strong .333/.385/.472 line with five doubles and one swiped bag. Luciano holds a mere .136 average since rejoining the big leagues in September and should be left out of your DFS lineups while facing Joe Musgrove.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Maria I. Guardado

1 week agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido (hip) left Saturday's game early due to left adductor discomfort, according to Mike Wallner of the Toronto Star. The 25-year-old was lifted in the fifth inning after grabbing his hip in pain. He was replaced by infielder Luis De Los Santos after Addison Barger shifted to cover left field. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to Sunday's starting nine, as the Duke product may need an extra day off. Since the start of the month, Loperfido has carried a .250/.276/.357 line with three doubles and three RBI. If Loperfido happens to miss an extended period of time, Davis Schneider will likely see an uptick in playing time in the outfield.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Mike Wallner
