Melvin Gordon Ending Holdout, To Report Thursday
5 years agoAccording to sources, Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is ending his contract holdout and will report to the team on Thursday. He will not play in Week 4 against the Dolphins, but he's planning to be back in the fold with his teammates moving forward. It's bad news for Austin Ekeler owners, although he'll be a top-five fantasy running back this weekend against the awful Dolphins. Going forward, Ekeler is expected to serve as the primary backup to Gordon, but it might take a few more weeks for the Chargers to feel comfortable featuring Gordon after his lengthy holdout. If Gordon is active in Week 5 against Denver, he'll be more of a risky RB2/3 until we see exactly how they'll use him upon his return. Justin Jackson will move down to third on the depth chart.
