Joely Rodriguez Records First Hold On Monday
4 years agoTexas Rangers relief pitcher Joely Rodriguez was activated from the injured list this past weekend and has already made two appearances since then. His second appearance came on Monday against the Los Angeles Angels. Rodriguez pitched a scoreless eighth inning, allowing no hits or walks while striking out two. He earned his first hold of the year as the Rangers went on to win 6-4. In his first outing of the year on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles, Rodriguez allowed two earned runs in 2/3 of an inning, so Monday was clearly a big step in the right direction. He looks to be one of the team's primary setup men for now. The team hasn't gotten great production from the bullpen so far this year outside of closer Ian Kennedy, so the door is wide open for Rodriguez to be a high-leverage, seventh or eighth inning arm.
