Joe Barlow Has Positive Rehab Outing
2 years agoTexas Rangers relief pitcher Joe Barlow (finger) struck out the first two batters he faced and retired the side in order on 14 pitches in one inning in a minor league rehab outing for Triple-A Round Rock on Sept. 17. Barlow is expected to make another rehab appearance for Round Rock on Tuesday or Wednesday this week. The 26-year-old right-hander has been on the injured list since Aug. 17, but barring any setbacks on his rehab assignment, he could be back in Texas' bullpen by this weekend or early next week. Before his injury, Barlow had 13 saves, a 3.16 ERA (4.38 FIP), a 1.05 WHIP and 24 strikeouts in 31 1/3 frames. Jose Leclerc has been operating as the Rangers' closer with Barlow on the shelf.
