J.T. Realmuto Remains The Best Catcher In Baseball
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto has been excellent on defense in terms of framing, blocking balls in the dirt and limiting the opponents' running game. He's helped starting pitchers Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola get off to solid starts on the mound. On offense, Realmuto leads the team in average, is second in RBI and consistently produces quality at-bats. So far in the early going, he has lived up to his five-year, $115.5 million deal as the best catcher in baseball. Realmuto currently has a slash line of .333/.375/.533 with three doubles, one home run and six RBI out of the gates in the 2021 season. The 30-year-old also stole his first base of the season on Sunday and managed to steal 13 total bags in the previous two seasons.
