Garrett Cooper Begins Rehab Assignment
2 years agoMiami Marlins first baseman/outfielder Garrett Cooper (concussion) started a minor league rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter on Tuesday. Manager Don Mattingly said the plan is for Cooper to play three days in a row before being evaluated. Mattingly doesn't think Cooper will need much more time than that, as he has recovered from his concussion symptoms quickly. The 31-year-old could be back in Miami's lineup by early next week, barring any setbacks. The first-time All-Star should return to a regular role in Miami once he's ready after hitting .269/.345/.415 with seven home runs, 42 RBI and 28 runs scored in 368 plate appearances over 94 games with the Fish before suffering a head injury last week.
