2 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals signed right-handed reliever Giovanny Gallegos to a two-year contract extension on Monday that includes a club option for the 2025 season. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The 31-year-old is 3-5 this year for St. Louis with a 2.91 ERA (2.76 FIP), a 0.97 WHIP, 14 saves and 72 strikeouts in 58 2/3 innings pitched. He's converted 28 of his 42 save opportunities in the last two seasons and also has 36 holds, making him plenty valuable to both the Cardinals and fantasy managers despite not being the full-time closer.
