Austin Ekeler Situation Won't Impact Bolts' Plans
2 years agoAccording to Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco, running back Austin Ekeler's status won't impact how the team approaches the 2023 NFL draft. The Pro Bowler openly expressed his displeasure with his contract situation in March, with the team permitting him to seek a trade. However, it's been over a month since that report came out, and Ekeler remains a Charger. If there isn't a resolution to this situation, Telesco stated the Bolts would rely on Joshua Kelley and Isaiah Spiller to fill the void. Kelly has rushed for 743 yards and four touchdowns off 213 carries in 37 games. On the other hand, Spiller has only 18 touches for 41 yards in six career appearances. That said, Kelly may have the edge for the No. 1 spot heading into training camp, so his fantasy value could increase. However, his stock will plummet if things are resolved with Ekeler, one of the best fantasy backs in the National Football League.
