5 months agoIn a dramatic last-lap pass for the win (thanks to his teammate and race leader, Ryan Blaney, running out of fuel), Austin Cindric is now locked into the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, becoming the ninth different driver to win this season with his surprise victory at Gateway on Sunday. It is the second win in Cindric's young Cup Series career and just his second top-five result of the season. The No. 2 Ford was strong for most of the race at Gateway on Sunday, as Cindric qualified second and led 53 of the 240 laps. While this win does lock the No. 2 team into the Playoffs, it now makes things very interesting for the bubble with 11 races remaining in the regular season. Currently, it looks as though Bubba Wallace, Chris Buescher, Chase Briscoe, Joey Logano, and Kyle Busch are going to be fighting for the final two Playoff spots, but anything can happen over the next three months.
