A's Pluck Ryan Noda Away From The Dodgers
2 years agoThe Oakland Athletics selected Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Ryan Noda second overall in Wednesday's Rule 5 draft. The rebuilding A's will give Noda a shot to see if he can stick on their major-league roster in 2023. The 26-year-old was taken in the 15th round in 2017 out of the University of Cincinnati by the Toronto Blue Jays. Noda, a left-handed-hitting first baseman and corner outfielder, finished the 2022 season by hitting .259/.396/.474 with an .870 OPS, 25 home runs, 90 RBI, 86 runs scored and even 20 stolen bases in 135 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He has plenty of power (54 home runs in the last two seasons), but he'll need to cut down on his strikeouts (162 in 2022) in order to find success in the majors.
