BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 49% of leagues
ANALYSIS: St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong had a rocky start to the 2021 season. He went on an 0-for-23 slump over a seven-game stretch from April 4 to April 11, but since that cold streak, he's really turned things up.
This past Monday, DeJong had a two-home run, five-RBI game against the Washington Nationals. The game was a culmination of a six-game hitting streak for DeJong. While his .200 batting average on the year is ugly, he already has five home runs, 10 RBI and 13 runs over 17 games. Plus, his .450 slugging percentage is a major increase from last year's disappointing .349 clip and he has an 18.9% barrel rate so far this year, which ranks in the top 6% of the league.
DeJong has been a historically streaky hitter. His hot streaks will come and go, but his season-long numbers typically look solid, especially in the power department. DeJong should be rostered in all but the most shallow of leagues. Bench him during the cold stretches if you're able to, but don't let another manager in your league benefit off the hot streaks.
