BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 46% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Kendall Graveman has been nearly flawless out of the pen so far this year. Through seven appearances and 8.1 innings, he's allowed just one hit and two walks without giving up a run. He also has a 34.5% strikeout rate.
Rafael Montero still appears to be the leading candidate for saves in Seattle at least for now. Montero has had a decent year so far, pitching to a 2.61 ERA and 0.77 WHIP, but he's already blown three of his six save opportunities. Graveman and Kenyan Middleton are tied for second on the team in saves with two, but Middleton's had some rough outings in the early going with a 1:1 BB/K ratio and a 5.14 ERA.
Graveman is worth rostering in just about all leagues, except for maybe shallow points leagues, where league managers can use a wait-and-see approach and then pounce if he usurps Montero as the Mariners' closer. For now, Graveman will see a ton of high-leverage situations and give fantasy managers a solid boost in ratios while racking up holds (he has two on the year) and at least a few saves as well.
