ANALYSIS: Tampa Bay Rays infield prospect Junior Caminero has been a popular stash candidate all season and is on the verge of being promoted to the major leagues.
Through 26 games at Triple-A Durham, the 20-year-old has posted an incredible .314/.379/.562 line with seven home runs and 20 RBI.
In addition, after playing primarily at the hot corner and shortstop through his time in the Rays pipeline, Caminero has recently made a start at second base, which is telling sign that Tampa Bay is trying to find a way to bring its top prospect to the big leagues as soon as possible.
Brandon Lowe (oblique) has been sidelined for an injury, and the Rays could view Caminero as a potential replacement in addition to him seeing time at third base and shortstop.
Junior Caminero had three hits last night including this home run while drawing the start at second base.
