BALLER MOVE: 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 20% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Marlins rookie Isan Diaz already gave us one of the year's best moments, homering in his first at-bat off of Jacob deGrom while his parents were being interviewed in the stands, resulting in the type of pure elation that makes baseball fandom so special. But putting feel-good emotions aside, Diaz's bat might be worthy of attention too. Before getting called up on August 5, Diaz had been hammering Triple-A pitching, hitting 26 home runs in 377 plate appearances, with 70 RBI, and 89 runs scored and was finally called up by the Marlins to man the keystone for the big league club.
After the dramatic home run in his first at-bat, Diaz cooled quickly, going hitless in his next 16 plate appearances. But the rookie heated up over the weekend, collecting hits in every game against the Braves, with multiple hits in all but one of them. The Marlins may be bad but Diaz has some pop and is hitting at the top of their lineup every day; that has value and could be worth your attention.
