BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 57% of Fleaflicker Leagues
EXPERT ANALYSIS: To say Alex Gordon has had a disappointing year would be a massive understatement. A .229 average and just 29 RBI in 346 AB for a player who has been in the All-Star game three years running place him in contention for biggest bust of the year among batters. August has been a complete anomaly, however, as Gordon suddenly has decided to pick up the pace. In the last four weeks, Gordon is slashing .295/.380/.580 with seven HR and 13 RBI. This is what Royals fans are accustomed to. His .345 BABIP over that time is elevated from his .318 career average, but at this point fantasy owners just need him to keep it up for another couple of weeks. Gordon's long-term prospects are still in question, as he has seen a steady decline in slugging percentage for the past five seasons, from .502 in 2011 down to .390 this year. The same player who once led the league with 51 doubles in 2012 has hit just 13 so far. He has also had his share of injuries the past two seasons. If Gordon can squeeze out one more productive month as the Royals struggle to defend their crown, he may be boon to fantasy owners as well. Sometimes a little motivation is all it takes.
