BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 14% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: It's hard not to love what we've seen out of Yandy Diaz in a short sample this season. He's slashing a blistering .310/.394/.621 with a 12.1% walk rate and just a 9.1% strikeout rate. He's always shown strong plate discipline, high contact and, best of all, incredibly HARD contact. However, he has a tendency to but the ball on the ground far too often, limiting his in-game power.
That is what makes the two home runs, three doubles and career-high 34.6% fly ball rate this season all the more exciting. It's a small sample, sure, but a new team may have helped Diaz tap into the launch angle revolution, where his raw power could translate into something really special.
He should find everyday at-bats in Tampa Bay, even when (if?) they get Matt Duffy back off the injured list. I'm buying Diaz in most formats at this point, and definitely in anything deeper than a 12-teamer.
