WNBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks (9/5/20): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings and FanDuel

Justin Carter's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 9/5/20. Expert WNBA DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for DraftKings and FanDuel.

Jewell Loyd! After getting left off a list of former Notre Dame players who are succeeding in the WNBA by her former head coach at Notre Dame, Loyd might have been playing Friday night with a little bit of a chip on her shoulder. And after hitting a buzzer beater three to win the game for the Storm, maybe Muffet McGraw will stop holding Loyd's decision to leave school early against her?

In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 9/5/20. These lineups picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

WNBA - DFS Guards

Diana Taurasi (G, Phoenix Mercury) – vs New York Liberty (DK: $11,400, FD: $7,300)

With Brittney Griner out, Diana Taurasi has retaken the scoring reins here. 27 in her last game. 32 the one before that. 34 against Washington a few games back. Taurasi is shooting a lot and connecting a lot. She's been flirting with the single-game made threes record over the past couple of games as well, and now faces a Liberty team that allows the third-most points per game. Sure, there's the risk that this is a blowout and Taurasi ends up on the bench in the fourth, but I think that's a risk I'd be willing to take.

Jackie Young (G, Las Vegas Aces) – vs Atlanta Dream (DK: $7,500, FD: $5,200)

Last year's No. 1 overall pick started this year out slow, then turned on the jets, then cooled a little. Now, she's back in the spotlight, putting up consecutive 20-point games for the first time this season and seeing her minutes rise to 30 per game. She's coming off a huge night against Connecticut, with 20 points, four rebounds, nine assists, four steals, and a block. Young shouldn't have too much trouble against Atlanta, who allow the second-most points and most assists per game.

Shey Peddy (G, Phoenix Mercury) – vs New York Liberty (DK: $5,100, FD: $4,400)

The Mercury might be the least lucky team in the league when it comes to injuries, but that poor injury luck opens up chances for players like Peddy. After getting waived by the Mystics, Peddy signed in Phoenix and is getting 20-plus minutes of playing time for the Mercury. Last time out, she had nine points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals against the Fever. New York allows the third-most points and most steals per game, making Peddy a nice value play on this slate.

WNBA - DFS Forwards

Brianna Turner (F, Phoenix Mercury) – vs New York Liberty (DK: $10,100 FD: $7,500)

Since Griner left the bubble, Turner has been on fire. Her scoring has been inconsistent on a Mercury team that's built around the perimeter, but her rebounding numbers have been incredible, with double-digit boards in four of the last five games, including 17 against Washington. But the big story with Turner has been her blocks. In six games since August 21st, Turner's lowest block total in a game is three. She had six of them against Indiana. And now she faces New York, who allow the second-most blocks per game. BRIANNA TURNER SZN.

Angel McCoughtry (F, Las Vegas Aces) – vs Atlanta Dream (DK: $8,500, FD: $6,500)

It's revenge game time, y'all! McCoughtry was with the Dream from 2009 to 2019, becoming THE face of the franchise over that time. Now, she'll play her second game against her former club. In the first meeting, she played just 15 minutes, scoring 12 points and adding seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block. The Aces have been keeping her in the 15 to 20 minute range most nights, which lowers her upside, but she's still consistently been scoring in double figures while adding a handful of rebounds, assists, and steals. She'll be extra motivated for this meeting, and if you believe in the revenge game, you'll want to have McCoughtry on your roster today.

Candice Dupree (F, Indiana Fever) – vs Connecticut Sun (DK: $7,200, FD: $5,500)

With Lauren Cox (knee) out, the Fever frontcourt rotation should be much easier to project in this one. Not that that really impacts Dupree much, as she plays 28 to 35 minutes most nights anyway. If we ignore her 14 minutes and four points against Atlanta, Dupree has been consistently scoring in the low double-digits lately, plus adding a nice amount of assists. She's a good passing forward and provides a veteran presence for a tough matchup with the Sun.
