Hey, everyone! You might be thinking "I haven't seen a RotoBaller WNBA article in like a week," to which I'm going to tell you "you're correct, I've been busy because the semester just started and I'm teaching four classes, so I am sorry."
Anyway, let's do some picks for Friday's two-game slate.
In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 9/10/21. WNBA DFS Lineup Picks: Guard
Courtney Williams (Atlanta Dream) - @ Mystics - DK: $10,500, FD: $
Williams is coming off of a huge game against Phoenix, scoring 20 points and pulling down 14 boards. She won't always get those kinds of rebounding numbers, but she is capable of lighting up the scoreboard every night, especially with the kind of minutes that the Dream are giving her.
Against the Mystics this season, Williams is averaging 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. She's had her worst assist numbers against Washington, but it looks like her passing numbers have been ticking up lately. Williams is Atlanta's best player right now. Trust her in DFS.
Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana Fever) - @ Lynx- DK: $9,100, FD: $
It's not a great matchup against the Lynx, but Kelsey Mitchell's offense has taken leaps forward lately, enough so that I'll trust her against Minnesota.
This is the first time Mitchell has faced this team this year.
In August, Mitchell averaged 18.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. She shot 42.4 percent from three over that span and the Lynx will likely be without their best point guard defender, Layshia Clarendon. All that makes me want to get Mitchell into some lineups and root for the upside.
Tiffany Hayes (Atlanta Dream) - @ Mystics - DK: $8,400, FD: $
I like the idea of investing a lot of salary in the guard spots on this slate, which is why my cheapest option is Hayes, who is still one of the higher-priced guards.
Hayes is averaging 13.9 points per game this season, though that's been down over the last three games, as she's averaging 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game over that span.
In two games against Washington though, Hayes is averaging 17.0 points and 6.0 assists per game. This has been a really good matchup for her, and that's a big part of why I'm going to roll with her on Friday's slate.
WNBA DFS Lineup Picks: Forward
Tina Charles (Washington Mystics) - vs Dream - DK: $10,000, FD: $
Word is that Elena Delle Donne has suffered a set back in her return from her back surgeries and it looks like Myisha Hines-Allen is still out, so it's back to the early days of 2021 for the Washington Mystics: lots and lots of Tina Charles. While she's coming off her worst game of the season with just four points on 1-for-6 shooting against Seattle, I trust that Charles can have a big night against Atlanta, though it's worth noting one of her worst shooting nights of the year was against the Dream.
Still, that was a different Atlanta team. If Charles gets the touches in this one, she'll produce.
Aerial Powers (Minnesota Lynx) - vs Fever - DK: $7,500, FD: $
Powers has looked really good since returning to the court, with 20-plus fantasy points in three consecutive games. She's seeing her minutes go up and is already becoming a top scoring threat for a team that needed some perimeter offense. You wish her non-points stats were higher, but against a team defense like the Fever, I'll err on the side of playing a good bit of Powers for her ceiling, which I don't think we've seen yet.
Natalie Achonwa (Minnesota Lynx) - vs Fever - DK: $4,300, FD: $
Could we get a Revenge Game on Friday night?
Achonwa's Lynx tenure has been...well, bad. But we've seen an uptick in her minutes lately, and while Achonwa has been super productive with those minutes, she has scored double-digit fantasy points in consecutive games. There's some upside here as a cheap punt play, but be warned that Achonwa could also just absolutely destroy your lines. A lot depends on this whole Revenge Game idea that I'm betting on.
