WNBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks (8/23/19): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings and FanDuel

Justin Carter's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 8/23/19. Expert WNBA DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for DraftKings and FanDuel.

There are no WNBA games on Saturday this week, so you're going to have to get your fix with these three Friday contests and hope that's enough basketball to tide you over until Sunday's six-game slate. We've got some good matchups tonight, like the Aces taking on the Sun, and also a meeting of two struggling teams when New York and Atlanta meet.

In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/23/19. These lineups picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

WNBA - DFS Guards

Ariel Atkins (G, Washington Mystics) – @ Chicago Sky (DK: $7,700, FD: $5,900)

Kristi Toliver is still out, which leaves Atkins in a good spot to perform well. She's had 10 or more points in three straight games while shooting at least 50 percent in each of those outings. Chicago has allowed the second-most points per game this year, as well as the fourth-most rebounds. Atkins has been a solid rebounder for her position, which adds some value to her in this one. With the soft defense and Toliver out, Atkins can be the highest-scoring fantasy guard in this slate.

Jackie Young (G, Las Vegas Aces) – @ Connecticut Sun (DK: $6,800, FD: $6,600)

Probably don't play Young on FanDuel, where's she priced higher than I feel comfortable with, but she's still a good discount on DraftKings. The Sun present a tough test for Young, but her recent results have been really encouraging. She's coming off a 10-assist, 10-rebound game, which is just wild to see from a rookie. Her scoring hasn't always been up there with the rest of her game, but she impacts the game in so many other ways that she can still be a fantasy contributor without huge scoring numbers. Young had 13 points and six assists in her last game against Connecticut, so we've seen her be productive against this team, even if Connecticut remains one of the WNBA's most intimidating opponents.

WNBA - DFS Forwards

Tina Charles (F, New York Liberty) – vs Atlanta Dream (DK: $10,400 FD: $8,100)

There were concerns that getting Amanda Zahui B back would hurt Charles' upside, but she had 23 points and 14 rebounds in her last game, showing that getting the team's other starting big back won't have much of a negative impact on Charles. Since the All-Star break, Charles has been on fire as a scorer and she gets a juicy matchup against a Dream squad that's allowing the fourth-most points per game this season. Charles is the focal point of New York's offense and should put up strong numbers again.

Jessica Breland (F, Atlanta Dream) – @ New York Liberty (DK: $8,200, FD: $7,300)

Speaking of good matchups, Breland gets a New York team that allows the most points per game and the fourth-most points in the paint, and the Dream will reportedly be without Elizabeth Williams, which should give Breland more opportunities. Sure, Breland played just 11 minutes last game while dealing with flu symptoms, but she should be good to go for this one. She scored 13 points the last time she faced the Liberty, and she's been rebounding the ball well lately. Make sure she plays before setting the lineup, but she has a lot of upside.
