WNBA DFS Picks: Forward
A'ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces) - @ CHI - DK: $11,700, FD: $9,500
The defending MVP has been staking her name at the top of the 2023 MVP ladder lately, as she's now posted three double-doubles in a row, scoring over 20 points in all three contests.
Last time out against the Lynx, Wilson was 14-for-17 from the floor with 35 points. She was 7-for-9 from the charity stripe and grabbed 14 rebounds while also adding two assists and three steals.
This now makes five games in a row that Wilson has shot 60% or better from the floor, and four times in the last five games that she's grabbed at least 10 rebounds.
Natasha Howard (Dallas Wings) - vs. CON - DK: $11,000, FD: $8,500
Natasha Howard has been on a roll lately, with two 28-point double-doubles in her last three games. Last time out against the Sparks, those 28 points back on 12-for-20 shooting, and she added 11 rebounds, two assists, one block, and four steals.
This also marks the fourth game in a row with double-digit field goal attempts for Howard. Her volume has grown as the season has gone along, and she's scored 28 or more points three times already in July. She might need to do that again to take down the Sun on Tuesday night.
Amanda Zahui B. (Indiana Fever) - @ LA - DK: $3,400, FD: $3,800
When the Fever traded Queen Egbo for Amanda Zahui B., I was initially perplexed. And don't get me wrong—I still am. With NaLyssa Smith sidelined, having Queen Egbo would probably be best for the Fever. But Zahui B. is finally getting some minutes, and her rock-bottom price makes her an intriguing value play in DFS.
She played 15 minutes last game, her most since coming to Indiana. She was just 2-for-8 from the floor, but the added volume was interesting, even if it was the third time in four games that she's shot 25% or worse from the floor.
Let's be real here: this play probably won't work out. But on a big slate like this, taking this kind of risk can differentiate your lineup. You can afford some higher-priced players by playing Zahui B., and if she can go something like 4-for-8 from the floor, make a three, and add a few things elsewhere, she can be a big help.
WNBA DFS Picks: Guard
Rhyne Howard (Atlanta Dream) - vs. PHO - DK: $11,100, FD: $7,800
Howard has now scored 20-plus points in three straight games. The efficiency isn't there—she was just 5-for-18 from the floor last game, her fourth game in a row shooting under 40% from the field—but the volume is what matters most in daily fantasy, and she's taken 15 or more field goal attempts in six consecutive games.
In the most recent game against Connecticut, Howard had 22 points and added six rebounds, two assists, four blocks, and two steals. It was the fourth multi-steal game in her last five contests, and also the eighth game in a row where she made at least three three-pointers.
Layshia Clarendon (Los Angeles Sparks) -vs. IND - DK: $6,800, FD: $5,600
After missing over a month, Clarendon returned against Minnesota on July 20, scoring 11 points in 23 minutes. They then played 32 minutes last game against the Wings.
The shot wasn't there in that one, as they were 1-for-5 from the floor, but they added three rebounds, five assists, and one steal to the docket. This game against Indiana should give Clarendon a chance to post some solid numbers at a really low DFS salary.
Sami Whitcomb (Seattle Storm) - @ NY - DK: $5,900, FD: $4,800
With Jordan Horston set to miss this game for personal reasons, I expect we see more from Sami Whitcomb. Last game, Whitcomb played 21 minutes, scoring 11 points on 4-for-5 shooting.
But the last time Whitcomb got 30-plus minutes of action, she had a huge showing. 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting, plus six rebounds, three assists, and one steal. If she can do something approaching that tonight with her expanded role, DFS players will be more than happy with that result.
