Wide Receiver Matchups To Target in Week 14

Mike Riggall's favorite WR vs. CB matchups to exploit for Week 14 of 2020 DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel. These wide receivers should be tournament and cash game targets based on matchups.

The Week 13 wide receiver matchup article was not the greatest as none of the recommended receivers even cracked the top-25. Cooper Kupp finished as WR-29 with eight catches for 73 yards and Allen Robinson had six catches for 75 yards but the Bears controlled the game for the most part so they ran the ball a ton. Brandin Cooks missed part of Week 13 while he was evaluated for a concussion which hurt his final numbers and while Tyler Lockett did see nine targets, the Giants kept the Seahawks passing game contained and held them to just 12 points. D.J. Chark,  Nelson Agholor, Breshad Perriman and Michael Pittman Jr. simply underwhelmed.

Nothing is more important than evaluating matchups when making lineup decisions. From a yardage standpoint, the Jaguars, Falcons, Texans, Jets, Seahawks and Lions Defenses are giving up the most yards-per-pass which means they aren't great against the pass on a per-play basis so far this season. The Falcons, Seahawks, Lions, Bengals, Jets and Vikings Defenses have given up the most explosive pass plays in the league which means big-play wide receivers are likely to have good games against those defenses. Through the first 13 weeks of the season the Seahawks, Titans, Falcons, Vikings, Jaguars and Lions Defenses are giving up the most fantasy points to wide receivers which makes them units you want to exploit.

Now, here are the top WR vs CB matchups for Week 14. Use these to set season-long lineups, as well as gain a competitive edge in the DFS games.

D.K. Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks

$8,600 FanDuel / $8,400 DraftKings - vs Lamar Jackson

The Jets Defense has given up the 10th-most fantasy points to wide receivers and 43 explosive plays in the passing game which is the sixth-most in the league. The Jets have actually been pretty good against the run this year, giving up just 3.8 yards-per-carry which makes them the third-best rushing defense in the league. The Seahawks are heavy favorites this week but when you consider the Jets stout run defense, the fact that they've been more competitive lately and the Jets inability to stop explosive plays in the passing game, it all points to a big day from D.K. Metcalf. Metcalf is a high-end option in DFS, but he's worth it this week, because the only way the Jets will slow him down is if they make it their sole focus and roll coverage in his direction.

Robby Anderson, Carolina Panthers

$6,500 FanDuel / $6,200 DraftKings – vs De'Vante Bausby

The Broncos have given up the seventh-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers on the season but the dam may burst this weekend because their secondary is depleted right now with A.J. Bouye suspended for the remainder of the season for using performance enhancing drugs. The Panthers are likely to be without D.J. Moore who is on the reserve-COVID list and Christian McCaffrey is likely out again, which means Robby Anderson should see plenty of targets in Week 14. The Broncos will likely start Duke Dawson, De'Vante Bausby and Michael Ojemudia at cornerback this week which is good news for the Panthers passing game.

Nelson Agholor, Las Vegas Raiders

$5,200 FanDuel / $4,700 DraftKings – vs Rock Ya-Sin

DeForest Buckner returned to the Colts lineup in Week 13 and as a result their defense was extremely difficult to run against. Josh Jacobs is questionable this week, and if he's limited or doesn't play the Raiders may need to rely heavily on the forward pass against the Colts. Nelson Agholor should see Rock Ya-Sin in coverage this week who has given up 1.86 yards-per-route covered which is third-worst in the NFL. Agholor is in a great spot to take advantage of the weak link in the Colts Defense.

Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears

$7,000 FanDuel / $6,800 DraftKings - vs Vernon Hargreaves III

The Texans are absolutely terrible on defense, and there's simply no way their secondary can slow down Allen Robinson. Hargreaves, who figures to line up against Robinson for most of the game, gives up 1.55 yards-per-route covered and a 70% catch-rate. Hargreaves' poor play is good news for Robinson, and the only way he doesn't come through this weekend is if Mitch Trubisky only throws the ball 20 times because David Montgomery and the Bears running game controls the matchup from the start.

Mike Williams, L.A. Chargers

$6,100 Fanduel / $4,700 DraftKings - vs Darqueze Dennard

The Falcons have given up 49 explosive plays in the passing game this year which is the worst mark in the NFL. Mike Williams is the Chargers big-play threat and he shouldn't have a problem getting open in this one. The Falcons are decent against the run lately which means the Chargers will likely need to throw a lot in this matchup. The over/under is set at 49 points which means plenty of touchdowns should be scored.

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

$7,800 FanDuel / $7,400 DraftKings - vs Sean Murphy-Bunting

Justin Jefferson has been getting it done almost every week and currently sits at WR-7 on the season. Jamel Dean is the fastest cornerback in the Buccaneers secondary and Jefferson should avoid him for the most part if he even plays. Over his last four games, Jefferson has 27 catches for 412 yards and four touchdowns off of 40 targets. Jefferson is hot right now and while the Buccaneers boast the best rushing defense in the NFL, they can be thrown on.

Christian Kirk, Arizona Cardinals

$5,500 FanDuel / $4,700 DraftKings – vs Isaac Yiadom

DeAndre Hopkins will likely see shadow coverage from James Bradberry this week which should open things up for Christian Kirk. Teams don't run on the Giants much, just 292 times on the year which is fourth-least in the NFL, likely because they give up just 4.0 yards-per-carry. The Cardinals need to score points somehow in Week 14, and through Christian Kirk looks like the easiest path to do so.

Breshad Perriman, N.Y. Jets

$5,800 FanDuel / $3,900 DraftKings - vs D.J. Reed Jr.

While the Seahawks Defense has given up the most-fantasy points to wide receivers on the season they have held opposing receivers in check over the last few weeks. However, that may be due in part because the Seahawks recently faced Colt McCoy, a struggling Carson Wentz and Kyler Murray who played with a bad shoulder and clearly wasn't right. The Jets are underdogs this week and with Denzel Mims out due to personal reasons, Breshad Perriman will be the main outside threat in the Jets passing game. Jamison Crowder is also a little banged up with a calf issue which means Perriman may be the guy.
