Wide Receiver Matchups To Target in Week 13

Mike Riggall's favorite WR vs. CB matchups to exploit for Week 13 of 2020 DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel. These wide receivers should be tournament and cash game targets based on matchups.

The Week 12 wide receiver matchups article was 50/50 but it did feature Tyreek Hill who finished as the No. 1 wide receiver on the week after registering one of the best fantasy football performances of all-time. DeVante Parker benefited from playing with Ryan Fitzpatrick and gained 119 yards off of 14 targets, finishing as WR-11  Justin Jefferson scored twice and finished as WR-6, while Gabriel Davis was WR-21 after snagging three balls for 79 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Boyd completely flopped in his first game playing with Brandon AllenMichael Pittman Jr. saw nine targets but came up small, while Corey Davis and Curtis Samuel didn't flop, but each scored less than 13 points which isn't great.

Nothing is more important than evaluating matchups when making lineup decisions. From a yardage standpoint, the Patriots, Jaguars, Falcons, Texans, Jets and Lions Defenses are giving up the most yards-per-pass which means they aren't great against the pass on a per-play basis so far this season. The Falcons, Seahawks, Lions, Bengals, Jaguars and Vikings Defenses have given up the most explosive pass plays in the league which means big-play wide receivers are likely to have good games against those defenses. Through the first 12 weeks of the season the Seahawks, Titans, Falcons, Vikings, Cowboys and Jets Defenses are giving up the most fantasy points to wide receivers which makes them units you want to exploit.

Now, here are the top WR vs CB matchups for Week 13. Use these to set season-long lineups, as well as gain a competitive edge in the DFS games.

Editor's Note: The FFPC Playoff Challenge is back with a massive $500,000 grand prize and $1.35 million total prize pool, paying down to 800th place. Here's the deal: no salary cap, no draft, no pickups, no subs. Choose 10 players, and as NFL teams get knocked out so will your players, so choose your team wisely. The 7,250 entries will sell out quickly, and registrations will close on Saturday January 10th at 4:30 pm ET . D.J. Chark, Jacksonville Jaguars

$6,300 FanDuel / $5,400 DraftKings - vs Kris Boyd

Kris Boyd has given up 1.59 yards-per-route he covered which is one of the worst marks in the NFL along with a 76% catch-rate. The Vikings are favored by 10 points which means the Jaguars will likely be throwing a lot in an effort to keep pace. The over/under is set at 51 points so this game has the potential to be a shootout. Collin Johnson had a big game in Week 12 with Mike Glennon throwing the ball, so quarterback play shouldn't hold Chark back in this one.

Cooper Kupp, L.A. Rams

$6,600 FanDuel / $6,100 DraftKings – vs Byron Murphy

The Cardinals have given up the 11th-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season and have given up some big performances to slot receivers along the way. Recently, Tyler Lockett had nine catches for 67 yards and a touchdown against the Cardinals and in Week 10 Cole Beasley snagged 11 balls for 109 yards and a score. In two games against the Cardinals in 2019, Kupp had seven catches for 99 yards and a touchdown and six catches, 65 yards and a touchdown.

Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts

$5,600 FanDuel / $4,900 DraftKings – vs Keion Crossen

The Texans have given up some huge games to wide receivers this season and that's likely to continue with Bradley Roby suspended for the remainder of the season. In Week 9, with Roby out of the lineup, DJ Chark torched the Texans Defense for 146 yards and a touchdown. Michael Pittman came up small in Week 12 and T.Y. Hilton got it done, but if you look behind the production, Pittman had nine targets compared to just five targets for Hilton. Pittman is the No. 1 passing target for the Colts and he could pop off a big one this week going up against a secondary that's given up 34 explosive pass plays and 7.8 yards-per-pass. The over/under set at 50.5 points so this game should feature plenty of scoring.

Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears

$6,900 FanDuel / $6,700 DraftKings - vs Amani Oruwariye

The Detroit's secondary is depleted and as a result, they've been crushed by wide receivers lately. On Thanksgiving Will Fuller scored 35.1 fantasy points, in Week 11 both DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel went over 20 fantasy points and in Week 10 Terry McLaurin had 17.2 fantasy points. The Lions have also given up 42 explosive plays in the passing game which is third-most in the NFL, along with 22 passing touchdowns which means Robinson could have a big day.

Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans

$6,500 FanDuel / $5,600 DraftKings - vs Rock Ya-Sin

The Colts have been solid against wide receivers this year, giving up the sixth-fewest fantasy points to receivers on the season. However, Brandin Cooks should avoid Xavier Rhodes in coverage for the most part and will likely see the weak-link in the Colts secondary which is Rock Ya-Sin. Will Fuller has been suspended for the remainder of the year which means Cooks, who is already WR-28 on the season should see an increase in targets.

Nelson Agholor, Las Vegas Raiders

$5,400 FanDuel / $5,200 DraftKings – vs Bryce Hall

The Jets have given up the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers on the season and they've been beaten very badly as of late. Since Week 9, the Jets have given up at least 17 fantasy points to DeVante Parker, Mike Williams, Keenan Allen and Jakobi Meyers. The Jets have also given up 38 explosive pass plays on the season and with Josh Jacobs likely out, the Raiders may need to throw a little more in this one which bodes well for Nelson Agholor.

Breshad Perriman, N.Y. Jets

$5,900 FanDuel / $3,900 DraftKings - vs Damon Arnette

The Jets are underdogs this week against the Raiders which means they will need to throw a lot against a defense that's up the 14th-most fantasy points to wide receivers on the season. Breshad Perriman has scored at least 11.9 fantasy points over his last three games and has a great matchup against Damon Arnette who has been brutal in coverage this year. Arnette has given up an 80% catch-rate and 2.02 yards-per-route covered which is third-worst in the NFL.

Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks

$7,900 FanDuel / $7,400 DraftKings – vs Darnay Holmes

D.K. Metcalf has a difficult matchup against James Bradberry this week, and while Metcalf likely won't get shut down, it won't be the easiest matchup for him. Tyler Locket on the other hand will see Darnay Holmes in coverage who gives up 1.54 yards-per-route covered and an 80% catch-rate which is one of the worst marks in the league. The Giants have one of the best rush defenses in the league, giving up just 3.9 yards-per-carry, which means the Seahawks will likely need to throw to score.
