Despite a good-looking win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have looked abysmal this season. They mirror the same old Bucs from last year, the same team that went 2-14 and finished with the first pick in the 2015 NFL draft. Think they regret choosing Jameis Winston over Marcus Mariota yet? (Cue Bucs fans throwing their laptop).
The team does, however, have some nice offensive pieces to look forward to for the future, including running back Charles Sims. Now, Sims is still the backup to Doug Martin, but it's fair to say that Sims has fared well for fantasy owners during the first month of the season.
Sims only has 25 carries for 84 yards so far, but it's been his presence in the passing game that has really helped showcase his true value. Sims has caught touchdowns in back-to-back weeks for Tampa Bay and has put up 11 points in each of those weeks, according to standard scoring leagues.
He's still the backup to the Muscle Hamster, but Sims is proving to be solid when he's catching the ball, something the Bucs can certainly take advantage of when teams pay more attention to wide receivers Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans.
The Bucs' defense has also been a disappointment early on, which typically warrants a pass-heavy offense since they fall behind so early. The team would be wise to utilize Sims' receiving skills more often, and fantasy owners would be wise to grab him if they can.
