What Tony Romo's injury means for Dez Bryant and Darren McFadden

Tony Romo is injured. Again. This time, he's likely out for the season.

During Thanksgiving's traditional game, Romo was sacked by Carolina's Thomas Davis and landed hard on his left shoulder. According to ESPN.com, the 35 year old veteran quarterback felt similarly to when he broke his collarbone Week 2.

"Going to the ground you could hear something happen...You're just disappointed and feel like I don't know what is going to happen. We'll see."

We'll see is right, now that the Dallas Cowboys disastrous season continues. Question marks now loom around a couple of fantasy options.

It will never be easy to sit Dez Bryant. However, even with Romo playing the majority of yesterday's game, Bryant only caught the ball twice on eight targets. Missing five weeks of the season, Bryant has had one productive fantasy week. And now with the impending absence of Romo, again, how productive can Bryant be with backup quarterback, Matt Cassel?

After Romo went down Thursday, Cassel filled in nicely, going 13 for 19 with 93 yards and one touchdown. He will certainly rely heavily on Bryant, who should see plenty of targets, but simply isn't the same quarterback as Romo. The Cowboys face off against the Washington Redskins next Monday night. The Redskins give up an average of 234 passing yards per game, according to ESPN.com, and the Cowboys would be lucky to get that type of production out of Cassel. The Redskins have also relinquished 20 receiving touchdowns this season and have only picked off quarterbacks six times. The matchup is certainly there, but Cassel shouldn't be considered in any league.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Dallas the rest of the way. It's likely that they will try to reestablish their run game with Darren McFadden, who underperformed Thursday against the Panthers.; only 11 yards on 10 carries. According to ESPN.com, the Redskins allow 136 rushing yards per game; a weakness fantasy owners of McFadden hope he can exploit. McFadden saw a significant drop in carries against the Panthers, but only because the Cowboys were playing from behind the entire game. He should have an easier time against a less talented front line of the Redskins. McFadden will be an RB2.

If he can't get it together again Monday night, the offense will balance firmly on the shoulders of Bryant. He is, and always will be a WR1, no matter his quarterback. He and Cassel performed well together against the Philadelphia Eagles Week 9; Bryant's only 100-yard game of the season. Let's see if they can find some chemistry against another division rival.
