For all of the Eddie Lacy owners out there who thought that last week's performance from the 25-year-old back was rock bottom, think again.
After putting forth a disappointing performance last week against the St. Louis Rams in which he rushed the ball 13 times for a meager 27 yards, Lacy had one of the worst games of his career earlier today against the San Diego Chargers, rushing the ball four times for a total of three yards, and grabbing two receptions for 17 yards. Packers' running back James Starks got the start instead of Lacy, and he proceeded to have a monster game, rushing for 110 yards and tallying two touchdowns. The lack of Lacy in the Green Bay gameplan today caused many Lacy owners to wonder; what is wrong with him?
A possible explanation to the much reduced workload for Lacy is an ankle injury Lacy sustained earlier this year, which caused him to miss a game against the Seahawks in Week 2. But Packers' coach Mike McCarthy did not acknowledge the reason behind Lacy's near absence from the offense, and Lacy says that his ankle is fine. Perhaps the team was looking to mask a re-aggravation of Lacy's injury by giving Starks the majority of the work earlier today. In any event, Lacy owners should not panic, especially with the team's bye coming this week. Lacy has a week to rest any ailments he has before heading to Denver in Week 8.
