UCL DFS Lineup Picks for FanDuel (10/28/20) - Champions League Soccer

RotoBaller soccer expert Vince Dray breaks down the UCL DFS slate for FanDuel on 10/28/20.

Hello, RotoBallers! I'm happy to be back with you for some mid-week soccer. This is my first UCL article on the site, and it is a new addition to the sports that RotoBaller is covering. However, I have written many UCL articles in the past and cannot wait to get back to sharing with my readers.

This breakdown will focus on the early-only UCL slate on FanDuel. Let's take a look at the early UCL slate for Wednesday. Keep reading this breakdown for my DFS soccer picks on RotoBaller and see how to have success on Wednesday's slate.

The large majority of my DFS content will be EPL or UCL-related, however, there is always more soccer DFS to cover. If you want to chop it up with myself and other RotoBaller writers about non-EPL/UCL leagues or other sports, consider becoming a premium member and joining our ever-growing community of DFS and fantasy sports enthusiasts! We had a great conversation in the Premium Slack chat about yesterday's slate!

You can also get access to my picks for the massive six-game main slate on Wednesday. In this article, I will be providing you with my UEFA Champions League daily fantasy soccer lineup picks for FanDuel on 10/28/20 for the slate that locks at 1:55 pm ET. Be sure to also check out our other DFS lineup picks for other active sports. You can always find me on Twitter @vdray5 if you have any questions. Good luck, RotoBallers!

UCL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview

Krasnodar vs Chelsea

Chelsea (-250) travel to Russia to take on Krasnodar and will be the first of our significant favorites on Wednesday's early slate. Chelsea's last two fixtures have ended in 0-0 draws (to Manchester United and Sevilla), however, this is a great spot for them to bounce back. They should dominate this game against Krasnodar who are not off to a good start in the Russian Premier League. Krasnodar tied Rennes 1-1 in their first UCL game last week. This game should also be a nice place for us to target peripheral stats as well as those Chelsea attackers. The goal total over/under in this one is 2.5,3.

Istanbul vs PSG

PSG (-575) is the second significantly favored away team on this early slate. They're off to a good start - as always - in Ligue Un this year. However, they took a tough 2-1 loss from Manchester United last week in UCL play. It is expected for PSG to bounce back in a large way on Wednesday especially favored by two goals. Istanbul lost to Leipzig 2-0 last week, and they likely won't provide much resistance in this group. Along with Chelsea attackers, PSG attackers will dominate this breakdown article in this plus matchup. The goal total over/under is a touch higher in this game at 3.5.

FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders

Kylian Mbappe ($22) is going to be atop many DFS lineups on Wednesday but for good reason. PSG have a great matchup against Instanbul who have had a rocky start to their domestic season in Turkey. I favor Mbappe over Neymar ($23) on this slate for a few reasons. The first is goal scoring form. Mbappe has six goals in this young season while Neymar only has two. Each have three assists. Mbappe is also averaging more shots on goal per 90 minutes, but Neymar does have the advantage in chances created. The second reason to go Mbappe over Neymar is price. Save that dollar and side with Mbappe who has the best anytime scoring odds on the slate (-200 to Neymar's -146).

When looking for a second PSG attacker to roster, you are not left with many options. They are dealing with a whole host of fairly-regular midfielders on the shelf due to injury. We are "left" with Moise Kean ($15) and Pablo Sarabia ($16) who are actually my preferred options right now in PSG's midfield. Moise Kean is trying to earn himself a regular spot in the starting XI - and he's doing well after scoring two goals over the weekend against Dijon. Should he enter the starting lineups on Wednesday, he'll be in consideration with goal upside. Sarabia has a stronger floor than Kean as he leads the team in chances created so far this year. PSG should control the possession in this game which will allow Sarabia to create plenty of chances his teammates.

The other place I am looking for attackers is Chelsea. Sure, their last two games have ended scoreless on both sides, but they're still averaging 2.22 goals scored per game in all competitions this season. Timo Werner ($21) will lead their front line on Wednesday, and he has the best anytime scoring odds in this match at -111. He had an incredible UCL season with Leipzig last year before Chelsea bought him, and he has a nice matchup to open his UCL scoring this season on Wednesday.

For secondary Chelsea pieces, Christian Pulisic ($17) will get a lot of deserved love on this slate. His fitness is improving post-injury and should be good to play more minutes in this one. He can do a little bit of everything fantasy-wise from goals and assists to chances created and some defensive peripherals. He's an affordable mid-tier guy that can fit in any lineup. Tammy Abraham ($14) deserves to be in many lineups if he starts with his goal upside.

If you want a large-field GPP play, Marcus Berg ($15) is interesting. He's a proven goalscorer who can take advantage of Chelsea's unstable defense at home. He has the best odds on the team to score should he start. The rest of the squad is pretty depleted, so I'm not including any other guys in my player pool on Wednesday.

FanDuel DFS Defenders

Both Chelsea wingbacks look like great pay-up plays on Wednesday. Ben Chilwell ($15) has been absolutely stellar since joining Chelsea. He has definite attacking upside. Reece James ($13) is a similar play for cheaper. He will collect more defensive stats than Chilwell and has similar attacking upside. Both are in position for a possible clean sheet bonus as well. The downside with them is you will have to make some sacrifices at other positions to get them on your roster.

You should be comfortable fading the entire mid-range group of defenders on Wednesday with a severe lack of options outside of Martin Skrtel ($12). After those three, I am headed straight down to Igor Smolnikov ($7) and Evgeni Chernov ($5). They have a good home matchup against Chelsea. WIth Chelsea controlling much of their game in Krasnodar's defensive third, both Smolnikov and Chernov should feast on defensive peripherals. Plus, they're super cheap and allow you to fit in more attacking studs.

FanDuel DFS Goalkeepers

Edouard Mendy ($12) should be the top GK option on this slate. In the three games he has played for Chelsea, they have not conceded a goal. Pair that with Chelsea being significant favorites and you have a guy that looks good for both bonuses.

Keylor Navas ($14) is the only other GK to consider on this slate as a large favorite who could keep a clean sheet as well.

Thanks for reading my EPL DFS lineup picks breakdown on RotoBaller and good luck!
