ANALYSIS: In Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs' lone start last week, he shut down the Rangers. He pitched five innings, allowed one earned run, and struck out seven batters. In all of his 2018 outings, Skaggs has struck out at least five batters and allowed two earned runs or less.
The numbers that Skaggs have put up are more than ideal for a streamer. This week, he’s home to the Red Sox and Giants. While Boston is doing well, the Giants are not. They have scored only 41 runs in the first 13 games (28th in MLB). Also, Angel Stadium is home to the sixth-best Park Factor, over the past three seasons, for pitchers.
While his first start of the week against the Red Sox is very daunting (I would not blame you for benching him for that game if you own him), he is worth a roster spot for the game against the Giants on its own. A former first-round pick, Skaggs could be finding his footing in 2018 for the AL West leaders.
