BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team PPR Leagues
OWNED IN: 13% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Looking for a really speculative addition? Let's talk about the newest Ravens running back, Ty Montgomery.
Sunday's Ravens game, with the debut of Lamar Jackson, featured some changes in some the Ravens rushing attack looked. Jackson set an NFL record for rushing attempts by a quarterback, and the team made heavy use of Gus Edwards after Alex Collins proved to be fairly ineffective (minus a touchdown run).
Here's how the snap counts broke down for the Ravens: Edwards (49), Alex Collins (17), Ty Montgomery (nine), Javorius Allen (five).
What's important here is that Montgomery out-snapped Allen, and in the lightly contested battle for snaps as the passing back in this offense, that battle could mean something down the stretch in deep PPR leagues. Joe Flacco still exists, and could regain the quarterback job when healthy if Jackson proves to still need time to develop as a passer. That would mean the Ravens would be back to using a running back in the passing game, and Week 11 showed a trend that Montgomery can wind up being that back.
Again, it's a very speculative addition at this point, and Lamar Jackson not making use of backs in the passing game means that if he keeps the QB job, Montgomery is unplayable, but in deep leagues, Montgomery could be the new Buck Allen, which would make him a decently-valuable fantasy play.
