BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 24% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Colorado Rockies closer Wade Davis has been absolutely abysmal in June, allowing 12 earned runs over 10 1/3 innings while blowing two of his seven save opportunities. Meanwhile, setup man Scott Oberg has flourished this season, including a solid stint as the team's closer while Davis was on the Injured List from mid-May to early June. Davis is skating on thin ice with his 5.76 ERA and 1.76 WHIP on the year and could be one more blowup away from being replaced by Oberg as the Rockies' closer.
Oberg has a 1.99 ERA and 0.96 WHIP on the season. His .214 xBA against is a stellar clip, while his .224 wOBA against is amongst the top 3% of the league. Davis, meanwhile, has a .359 wOBA against.
In any rotisserie or categories league, Oberg is a fantastic speculative add for saves. The Rockies should provide plenty save opportunities going forward as an above-.500 team. If Oberg gets those opportunities and can retain his season-long productivity, he could be a top-15 closer the rest of the way. In points leagues, he's less of a priority until he is officially named the team's closer.
