When Miami announced that tight end coach Dan Campbell would be taking over coaching duties from Joe Philbin, nobody expected him to have the immediate effect on the offense that he has in just two games. Fantasy owners should take note, as Rishard Matthews and Lamar Miller have benefited from the change, among others.
Matthews, who is still available in nearly 40 percent of leagues, has already caught nine balls for 160 yards and one touchdown in the two games since catching just one ball in Philbin's final game against the Jets.
The University of Nevada product had caught three passes for 75 yards and a score on Sunday against Houston, and likely would have contributed more points had Miami not have led 41-0 at the half. Matthews will continue to be a deep-ball threat for quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who has also experienced a huge bump in fantasy value since Campbell took over.
Lamar Miller put up one of the more impressive fantasy lines in recent history, as he finished with 14 carries for 175 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for 61 yards and another score. The most impressive part of the performance is the time in which it occurred, as all of Miller's production came in just one half of football.
Miami faces undefeated New England on the road next week. Matthews owners could be in for a big game, as the Patriots give up 339 yards per game through the air, good for second-worst in the league. New England is, however, fourth-best in the league against the run, which may make it more difficult to start Miller next week. However, with Miller's pass-catching abilities and recent hot streak, it's almost impossible to bench him.
