Thursday night in the NBA only brings us two games: Golden State Warriors at Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder at Phoenix Suns. That doesn’t mean the action is lacking at all. If anything it is the complete opposite, action packed.
For DFS players this gives us a range of all-star players to choose from. But that can mean trouble too because the more options you have, the more mistakes you can make. Don’t worry though, we're here to make sure that you don’t make those mistakes.
Players to Avoid Starting in DFS Lineups on 2/26
Point Guard
We will start off with an easy one and it’s a no brainer for a couple reasons. First, if you have the options of Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, and Kyrie Irving, why would you take Brandon Knight? Curry, Westbrook, and Irving are all in the top 15 for points per game this year. Secondly, Knight hasn’t had enough time with the Suns yet to be worth starting over any of the other three, even with his lower value.
Shooting Guard
This was a tough one, but I have a couple reasons. Number one, over the past five games the Cavaliers have given up the third fewest fantasy points to opposing shooting guards. Number two, in their last matchup, Thompson went eight for 17 from the field and four for ten from beyond the arc. That is about average for him but not enough to convince me to start him. Overall his value is a little high for this matchup.
Small Forward
Whatever you do please don’t be tempted to start him, as it would be a huge mistake. It makes perfect sense though right? With Kevin Durant out, playing a weaker team, and a cheap value the matchup seems so perfect. It is the Russell Westbrook show, however, and there is no way around that. There is much better value in other shooting guards, so start them instead!
Power Forward
Markieff or Marcus Morris
This one is more about value and having better choices than anything else. Start any other starter from the other three teams and you will be okay. If you needed a little more convincing, consider that the Thunder have held power forwards to the third lowest shooting percentage this year.
Center
You have to stick with the hot hand at the center position in Oklahoma City's Enes Kanter. It would be a huge mistake passing him up for Collison
Overall it should be an interesting night of basketball with tons fantasy points being scored. Remember, to win a daily fantasy league you have to always keep the values in mind.
