Timothy Liljegren Returns For Sharks Monday
2 months agoSan Jose Sharks defenseman Timothy Liljegren (illness) will return to the lineup for Monday's matchup against Boston. He was unavailable on Saturday against the Islanders due to an illness. Liljegren operates in a top-four role and logs regular power-play time in San Jose but hasn't been very impactful. Through 34 outings, the former Maple Leaf has tallied eight points (four goals, four assists) with 47 blocks and 40 hits. He has grown his tally by only three points since December. Henry Thrun played instead of Liljegren at the weekend and will remain in the lineup, with Marc-Edouard Vlasic (illness) ruled out.

Timothy Liljegren Sitting Out On Monday
1 month agoSan Jose Sharks defenseman Timothy Liljegren (upper body) will not play on Monday evening against the Winnipeg Jets. Liljegren exited Sunday's contest early with this injury and will now miss at least one game. Prior to exiting, Liljegren logged just over 10 minutes of ice time and logged two shots and one blocked shot. With Liljegren sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Marc-Edouard Vlasic to draw into the starting lineup on Monday evening. Across 45 contests, the 25-year-old has found the back of the net four times and added five helpers. He has logged 66 blocked shots and added 47 hits. Vlasic will likely slot in on the bottom pairing and should not be targeted in any DFS competitions.

Timothy Liljegren Traded To Sharks
5 months agoThe San Jose Sharks have acquired defenseman Timothy Liljegren in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Defenseman Matt Benning went the other way, along with a 2025 third-round and a 2026 sixth-round draft pick. Liljegren skated in just one game with the Maple Leafs this season, sitting as a healthy scratch. He made 55 appearances last season and performed well. Liljegren finished the 2023-24 campaign with 23 points (three goals, 20 assists), 62 shots, 116 blocks, and 92 hits. He should be a good addition to the Sharks blue line and will definitely have a chance to play regularly. Benning, on the other hand, will have to get used to sitting in the press box. He has zero points in seven games this season with seven shots, 10 blocks, and nine hits.

Timothy Liljegren Draws Back In For Game 5
11 months agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren (undisclosed) will draw back into the lineup for Game 5 on Tuesday versus the Boston Bruins. The Swede didn't dress for Game 4 on Saturday, as head coach Sheldon Keefe said Liljegren wasn't 100 percent healthy as the reasoning for the scratch. It doesn't appear Liljegren agrees with that notion. "I don't know, I feel good," Liljegren said. "I was a bit surprised (to come out), but it is what it is." Liljegren is expected to take the spot of T.J. Brodie, who drew in for the first time in the series on Saturday. The 2017 first-round pick turns 25 years old on Tuesday and notched three goals and 23 points on 62 shots on goal with another 116 blocks across 55 games this season.

Timothy Liljegren Could Return Before Postseason
12 months agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren (upper body) could be available to the team prior to the postseason. The blue-liner suffered an upper-body injury in a 6-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils on March 26 and has not appeared since. He joined his team's optional morning skate prior to Thursday's contest against the very same Devils team. The Maple Leafs have four games remaining in the regular season. "It's not ruled out. There's a chance," head coach Sheldon Keefe said in regards to whether Liljegren could return prior to the playoffs. "Probably it would just be those last two games that would be good in consideration, but it's possible." The Swede has recorded three goals and 23 points in 52 games as he missed significant time with a high-ankle sprain suffered earlier in the season.
