Jack Della Maddalena suffered a unanimous decision loss to former lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in the main event of UFC 322 on Saturday. It was a brutally one-sided contest with Maddalena struggling to land any serious shots. Makhachev also took Della Maddalena down four times, with more than 19 minutes of control time. In 25 minutes of action, Della Maddalena landed 18 significant strikes. Della Maddalena will have to work on his grappling if he is to have any chance of becoming a welterweight champion again. Islam Makhachev became the new welterweight champion by defeating Jack Della Maddalena via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 322 on Saturday. Makhachev dominated Della Maddalena for almost the entire fight, taking him down time and time again and controlling him on the ground. In 25 minutes of action, Makhachev landed four takedowns with over 19 minutes of control time and 30 significant strikes. Former women's strawweight champion Zhang Weili suffered a unanimous decision loss to Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event of UFC 322 on Saturday. It wasn't the most entertaining fight as Shevchenko's size, strength, and technique proved to be too much for the former champion, as Weili got taken down time and time again. Women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko defended her title by beating former women's strawweight champion Zhang Weili via unanimous decision in the co-main event of UFC 322 on Saturday. Although it was an uneventful fight to say the least, Shevchenko dominated Weili for 25 minutes, winning every round on the scorecards. In 25 minutes of action, Shevchenko landed five takedowns and 41 significant strikes. With the win, Shevchenko improved to 26-4-1 as a pro and is now 15-3-1 in the UFC.--Alen Kurbasic

Sean Brady suffered a first-round TKO loss to Michael Morales on the main card of UFC 322 on Saturday. Brady entered the fight with a three-fight win streak, including a fourth-round submission over former welterweight champion Leon Edwards in May. Midway through the first round, Morales landed a devastating right hand that hurt Brady, but Brady managed to survive. A minute later, Morales hurt Brady again with a right hand, only this time he landed a combination, knocking Brady down. Michael Morales extended his win streak by beating Sean Brady via first-round TKO on the main card of UFC 322 on Saturday. In the first round, Morales loaded up with punches and stunned Brady, but Brady managed to survive. A minute later Morales hurt Brady again, sending Brady toppling to the mat off a beautiful five-punch combination. A few more follow-up shots sealed the deal and forced the referee to stop the fight. In 3:27 of action, Morales landed 24 significant strikes. Morales improved to 7-0 in the UFC with five knockouts since his debut in 2022. Former welterweight champion Leon Edwards suffered a second-round knockout loss to Carlos Prates on the main card of UFC 322 on Saturday. The opening round was uneventful but Edwards landed a few takedowns and controlled Prates for the most of the round. In the second round, Prates uncorked a devastating left hand that landed clean on the chin of Edwards, knocking him out. In 6:28 of action, Edwards landed two takedowns and 12 significant strikes. Carlos Prates won his second consecutive fight by defeating former welterweight champion Leon Edwards via second-round knockout on the main card of UFC 322 on Saturday. Prates had struggled to get Edwards off him in the first round and while the round was uneventful, Edwards did a bit more. In the second round, Prates started pressuring Edwards and it took him minute and a half to land a devastating left hand that knocked Edwards out. In 6:28 of action, Prates landed 21 significant strikes. It was Prates' sixth knockout win since the start of 2024 which is more than any other fighter in the promotion.
