19 hours agoAccording to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, New York Giants linebacker Micah McFadden could be given a contract extension during the offseason. The 2022 fifth-round pick out of Indiana has been a productive player in the New York defense over the past two seasons. Duggan noted that general manager Joe Schoen may "try to get ahead of the curve" and extend the linebacker before his rookie contract expires. After tallying just 59 tackles during his rookie season, McFadden has logged at least 100 tackles in each of the past two seasons. This season, the 25-year-old tallied a career-best 107 tackles (60 solo) with 47 assists, one deflection, and three sacks. He also forced a fumble. He missed the final two games of the season due to a neck injury but was still able to enjoy an impressive season. Fantasy managers should expect McFadden to remain a key contributor to the New York defense in 2025.Source: Dan Duggan
19 hours agoAccording to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, the New York Giants are expected to pick up the fifth-year option on linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux. Duggan noted that while Thibodeaux has shown flashes of elite upside, he has not made the impact the team had hoped, given that he was selected with the fifth-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. As a result, Duggan expects the team to pick up his option instead of discussing a long-term contract. After tallying just four sacks with 48 tackles in his rookie season, Thibodeaux enjoyed a massive sophomore season where he tallied 11.5 sacks. In that season, he totaled 50 tackles and three forced fumbles. However, in 2024, Thibodeaux took a step back as he logged just 5.5 sacks with 28 tackles. Fantasy managers should expect Thibodeaux to have a starting role in the New York defense next season.Source: Dan Duggan
19 hours agoAccording to Josh Kendall of The Athletic, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins (shoulder) dealt with a shoulder injury during the back half of the 2024 season, which hindered his play. Cousins said that he suffered this injury following their Week 10 contest against the New Orleans Saints. The veteran said he "Got hit pretty good in my right shoulder and elbow, and from there, it was kind of something I was working through." Then, over the final three weeks, the team opted to bench Cousins in favor of rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. Before this injury, Cousins performed quite well, averaging 263.4 passing yards per game with a 17:8 TD:INT ratio. However, over his final four contests, the 36-year-old averaged just 218.5 passing yards per game and threw just one score with eight interceptions. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status throughout the offseason as the team may look to find a trade partner, as Penix is viewed as their franchise option.Source: Josh Kendall
23 hours agoLos Angeles Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack has announced he will play at least one more season after retirement rumors following the 2024 campaign, but the former fifth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft is scheduled to be a free agent this offseason. However, Daniel Popper of The Athletic believes the Chargers are "in the driver's seat" to keep Mack in the organization as he tests free agency. The 33-year-old collected 17 sacks in 2023 before a six-sack season in 2024, but he is still a disruptive player, and the organization might not be far away from Super Bowl contention after making the playoff in the first year with head coach Jim Harbaugh at the helm. Contending teams will likely be interested in Mack's services, but it sounds like L.A. will be among the potential suitors.Source: Daniel Popper - The Athletic
23 hours agoAccording to NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay, Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson could be in contention to be selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. "He's going early," McShay said. "Like he might go first-round early." The 22-year-old spent four seasons in Columbus and rushed for 3,761 yards (6.4) YPC and 42 touchdowns along with 77 receptions for 853 yards and receiving touchdowns in 47 career games. Henderson flashed in four College Football Playoff games, racking up 414 total yards on just 44 touches. He is already viewed as one of the top running backs in the upcoming rookie class, but Round 1 or early Round 2 draft capital could cause him to shoot up rookie draft and 2025 fantasy football redraft draft boards.Source: Todd McShay
1 day agoLong-time NFL kicker Mason Crosby officially announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday after a 17-year career. During Crosby's lengthy NFL career (all but one season with the Green Bay Packers), he was a Super Bowl champion, the Packers' all-time leading scorer and finished 11th all time in points in NFL history. The 40-year-old was originally a sixth-round selection by Green Bay in the 2007 NFL draft out of the University of Colorado. Despite his lengthy career, Crosby was never selected to a Pro Bowl or as an All-Pro. He finishes his career with an 81.3 success rate (400-for-492 on field goals) while making 97.2 percent of his 760 career extra-point attempts. Crosby went 44-for-80 on field goals of 50-plus yards in his career. He did not kick at all in 2024 and only played in three games in his final season in 2023 with the New York Giants.Source: 105.7 The Fan

1 day agoDuring Super Bowl LIX Opening Night on Monday, Cleveland Browns impending free-agent quarterback Jameis Winston said he'd be willing to play for the New York Giants. "Would I really sign with the Giants? Absolutely!" Winston said. "I want to keep playing and do what I do best. I think we have a young— woah! They have a young roster. But they have a young roster that's ready to win. They're ready to bounce back. I know they're hungry over there." The G-Men went 3-14 in 2024 and don't currently have a QB on their roster. They could take a signal-caller with the third overall pick in the 2025 draft, but Winston could represent the perfect bridge QB next season. The 31-year-old Winston initially provided a spark to the Browns' offense last year when Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending Achilles tear, and he eventually finished with 2,121 passing yards, 13 TDs and 12 interceptions before being benched.Source: NJ Advance Media - Ryan Novozinsky
1 day agoKansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he has no plans to retire following Super Bowl LIX this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Super Bowl will be Reid's 45th career playoff game as a head coach, which will pass former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick (44) for most playoff games by a head coach all time. Reid needs four more playoff wins to pass Belichick (31) for most career playoff victories. "Yeah, I was always surprised when I heard those rumors because I know how much fun Andy's having," Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "He in a lot of ways I think is rejuvenated by the success the team's had, certainly he's matched with the quarterback that's a perfect complement for him in Patrick, and I know he loves what he's doing."Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

1 day agoBuffalo Bills All-Pro safety Micah Hyde has officially retired from professional football after 12 seasons in the NFL, The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov reports. Hyde entered the NFL back in 2013 as a fifth-round pick of the Green Bay Packers out of the University of Iowa. The 34-year-old spent his first four years in the league in Green Bay before joining the Bills in 2017. He ended up playing the final seven seasons of his career in Buffalo, with his lone Pro Bowl appearance coming in 2017. Hyde did not play at all in 2024 but returned to the Bills practice squad late in the season. The Ohio native finishes his career with 644 total tackles (482 solo), 18 tackles for loss, eight QB hits, 24 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 66 pass breakups, five forced fumbles and eight fumble recoveries in 158 career regular-season games (128 starts).Source: The 33rd Team - Ari Meirov
2 days agoESPN's Jeremy Fowler writes that some in the Pittsburgh Steelers organization are comfortable with Justin Fields as the starting quarterback in 2025. Fields has upside and more mobility than impending free-agent QB Russell Wilson. However, an NFC executive said that Fields didn't have much chemistry with wide receiver George Pickens, so that could play a part in who the Steelers choose to move forward with in 2025. Both Fields and Wilson will be free agents in March, and the Steelers are only expected to keep one of them moving forward. The 25-year-old Fields may be a better rushing asset than Wilson, but what he gains in mobility, he lacks in downfield passing and accuracy. The former first-rounder of the Chicago Bears in 2021 went 4-2 as a starter for Pittsburgh in 2024, throwing for 1,106 yards, five TDs and one pick while also rushing for 289 yards and five more scores.Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

2 days agoESPN's Jeremy Fowler writes that team personnel that he spoke with think Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent wide receiver Tee Higgins' market is $30 million per year, with most of them thinking he'll hit or clear the over on that mark. The lowest estimate is somewhere slightly above DeVonta Smith's three-year, $75 million deal. Higgins should do very well for himself in free agency because of his status as a No.1-caliber wideout and the fact that plenty of NFL teams are desperate for pass-catching help this offseason. If the Bengals wanted to, they could put the franchise tag on Higgins for less than $30 million in 2025, but the expectation is that they'll either sign him to an extension or let him walk. The 26-year-old has played in only 12 regular-season games in each of the last two years due to injuries, but when healthy, he's been productive. Higgins had a career-high 10 TDs and 911 receiving yards in 2024.Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler
2 days agoESPN's Pete Thamel writes that no player produced more chatter during Senior Bowl practices last week among executives and scouts than North Dakota State offensive lineman Grey Zabel, according to a scout. Zabel's draft stock has risen after he played both center and guard spots last week. He played the majority of his snaps at right tackle in 2023 and was a first-team All-American in the FCS at left tackle for the Bisons in 2024. After creating a ton of buzz among scouts and executive last week during the Senior Bowl, Thamel thinks it's very realistic that Zabel could turn into a top-50 pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft in April. Zabel turned down "high six-figure offers" to stay with the Bisons to win a national championship with his senior class, which he accomplished.Source: ESPN.com - Pete Thamel
