Despite taking the fight on short notice, Magomedov was more than ready for Oleksiejczuk, as he mixed kicks and elbows, battering Oleksiejczuk in the process. 3 months agoThis past Saturday, Michal Oleksiejczuk was outpointed by Shara Magomedov in a unanimous decision that went down in the co-main event of UFC Abu Dhabi. Oleksiejczuk was looking to end a two-fight losing streak but it didn't go his way unfortunately. He did manage to land some solid shots, especially at the beginning of the fight, but was ultimately outstruck by Magomedov. After 15 minutes, of action, Oleksiejczuk landed three takedowns and 77 significant strikes. This is Oleksiejczuk's third consecutive loss. 3 months agoLoopy Godinez suffered a unanimous decision loss to Mackenzie Dern on the main card of UFC Abu Dhabi. Godinez was last seen in action at UFC Atlantic City, where lost via unanimous decision to Virna Jandiroba. After 15 minutes of action, Godinez landed two takedowns and 67 significant strikes, compared to Dern who landed 72 significant strikes. With the loss, Godinez drops to 7-5 in the UFC.Source: UFC
3 months agoAfter losing two fights to Jessica Andrade and Amanda Lemos in a row, Mackenzie Dern got back in the win column by defeating Loopy Godinez unanimously. Going 1-3 in her last four, Dern desperately needed victory. Dern controlled the pace and kept Godinez guessing, especially in the third round. 3 months agoElves Brenner suffered a third-round knockout loss to Joel Alvarez at UFC Abu Dhabi on Saturday. Brenner entered the fight as a slight underdog, but the Brazilian struggled with the size difference. He was outstruck in all three rounds and was struggling with Alvarez's power. Then, in the third round, he got dropped with a knee and was finished off with ground strikes. With the loss, Brenner is now on a two-fight losing streak and is 3-2 in the UFC. 3 months agoJoel Alvarez picked up a third-round knockout win over Elves Brenner to open up the main card of UFC Abu Dhabi. Alvarez was ending a year-long layoff and he dominated the fight from start to finish. The Spaniard dominated the fist round, as he outstruck Brenner 39-to-15. He nearly finished Brenner on the ground, and the second round was much of the same as he outstruck Brenner 32-to-18. In the third round, Alvarez continued to piece up Brenner and eventually dropped him with a knee and finished him off with ground strikes. With the win, Alvarez is now 6-2 in the UFC and should get a ranked opponent next time out.Source: UFC
3 months agoTony Ferguson suffered a first-round submission loss to Michael Chiesa at UFC Abu Dhabi on Saturday. Ferguson entered the bout on a seven-fight losing streak and early on, he struggled with Chiesa's hook. Ferguson was then taken down early and he gave up his back, which allowed Chiesa to sink in the rear-naked choke and forced the tap in the first round. With the loss, Ferguson becomes the first UFC fighter to ever lose eight straight fights and it likely ends his UFC career. Chiesa had success landing his hook and he then got Ferguson down and quickly got his back. Once he got his back, Chiesa sunk in the rear-naked choke and got Ferguson to tap. 3 months agoMarlon Vera suffered a decision loss to Deiveson Figueiredo on the main card of UFC Abu Dhabi on Saturday. Vera entered the bout coming off a decision loss to Sean O'Malley in March for the bantamweight title. In the first round, he struggled with Figueiredo's grappling, but in the second round, he stuffed all six attempts and outlanded the Brazilian to even the fight going into the third. However, in the third round, Vera was dropped for the first time in his career which ended up being the difference as he lost a decision. With the loss, Vera is now 15-9 in the UFC and will likely need to fight someone outside the top-10 next time out.Source: UFC
3 months agoDeiveson Figueiredo picked up a decision win over Marlon Vera on the main card of UFC Abu Dhabi on Saturday. Figueiredo was set for his third fight at bantamweight and was coming off a submission win over Cody Garbrandt. In the first round, Figueiredo relied on his wrestling as he took Vera down twice and had over two minutes of control. The Brazilian struggled in the second round as he was 0-for-6 on takedowns and was outstruck. But, in the third round, Figueiredo became the first person to knockdown Vera to win the round and win the fight.
