6 days agoColorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers (hamstring) remains sidelined on Sunday due to hamstring tightness. However, Patrick Lyons of Justbaseball.com reports that the infielder could return to the starting nine as early as Monday. Rodgers sat out Saturday's game but should not be expected to miss any significant period of time. Before the injury, Rogers held a mere .184/.225/.237 line throughout September with only two extra-base hits. As a result, Aaron Schunk will cover the keystone and bat in the nine-hole. The 27-year-old has tallied at least one hit in each of the past three starts and could be a sneaky play in DFS this afternoon as he will face Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks, who carries a hefty 6.51 ERA.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Patrick Lyons

6 days agoCincinnati Reds third baseman Jeimer Candelario (toe) is unlikely to return this season, according to MLB.com. Manager David Bell stated, "It's looking more and more like he's not going to be back this year either. He's still having quite a bit of pain." The 30-year-old has been sidelined since mid-August after being hit by a pitch. Before the injury, the veteran posted a .225/.279/.429 line with 20 home runs and four stolen bases. Fantasy managers should expect Ty France to cover first base and Noelvi Marte and Santiago Espinal to cover the hot corner for the remainder of the summer. This afternoon, Espinal covered third base while Marte served as the designated hitter.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

6 days agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Cal Quantrill (triceps) was reinstated off the 15-day injured list and is slated to start Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Quantrill has been sidelined since August due to a triceps injury. In his past four starts, the right-hander posted a 5.40 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and a 12:13 BB:K ratio. Fantasy managers should expect Quantrill to remain in the rotation for the remainder of the season. He should not be considered in DFS this afternoon as he will face the Chicago Cubs in the hitter-friendly Coors Field.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Colorado Rockies

6 days agoNew York Mets outfielder Starling Marte (forearm) will remain out of the starting nine on Sunday due to a forearm injury. However, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported that the X-rays came back negative, which is a great sign for the 35-year-old. Marte was hit by a pitch on his forearm during Saturday's game but has avoided a significant injury. As a result, Tyrone Taylor will cover right field this afternoon and bat in the eight-hole. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to the Mets lineup on Monday evening, as Marte could return. Over his past 17 games, he has held a .241 average but has stolen three bases. Taylor has posted a mere .182 average across his past nine games and should be left out of your DFS lineup this afternoon.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Anthony DiComo

6 days agoWashington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams (shoulder) is being kept out of the starting nine again on Sunday afternoon as the Nationals look to clinch a series victory over the Miami Marlins. The star infielder has been sidelined since Friday due to shoulder soreness and will need at least another day to rest. As a result, Nasim Nunez will cover shortstop again and bat in the nine-hole. Abrams has emerged as a legit power and speed threat this season, hitting 20 home runs and swiping 29 bags. Nunez has tallied just four hits across his past nine starts and should be left out of your DFS lineup this afternoon as he will face Miami right-hander Adam Oller.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

6 days agoNew York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor (back) is back in the starting lineup as the Mets look to continue their playoff push against the Philadelphia Phillies. The MVP candidate left Friday's game early due to back soreness and was held out of Saturday's lineup as a precaution. This is a great sign, as the injury was not considered severe. Since the start of the month, the switch-hitting shortstop has held a .282/.364/.513 line with three doubles, two long balls, and two stole bases. Throughout the summer, the 30-year-old sits with an excellent .270/.341/.493 line with 30 home runs and 27 stolen bases. Lindor remains a high-end fantasy contributor and should be locked into all lineups down the stretch. Given his elite upside, he is always worth a look in DFS. He will face Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sanchez this afternoon.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Tim Healey

6 days agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho (shoulder) will remain out of the starting nine on Sunday afternoon due to a sore left shoulder. Mike Wallner of the Toronto Star reports that this injury has kept the 28-year-old out of the lineup since Tuesday. As a result, Nathan Lukes will cover center field and bat in the leadoff spot. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Varsho's status before their game on Tuesday evening against the Texas Rangers. Throughout September, Varsho has carried a mere .148/.207/.296 line. Lukes has tallied 12 hits across his past nine games with two of them going for extra bases. He is worth a look in DFS this afternoon as he will face St. Louis right-hander Miles Mikolas, who enters Sunday with a 5.55 ERA.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Mike Wallner

6 days agoMinnesota Twins first baseman/third baseman Jose Miranda will sit out on Sunday as the Twins close out a series against the Cincinnati Reds. This is the third time this week that Miranda has been held out of the starting nine. This is due to the Twins welcoming back Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa from the injured list. As a result, the Minnesota lineup has become quite crowded, and Miranda seems to be the odd man out. Since the start of the month, the 26-year-old has held a mere .244/.244/.311 line with just one double, one RBI, and no home runs. However, from June through August, the infielder posted a strong .343/.386/.544 line. As a result, Trevor Larnach will serve as the designated hitter. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Miranda's status as he may not be a reliable fantasy asset down the stretch due to his drop in playing time.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

6 days agoPhiladelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm (hand) was activated off the 10-day injured list on Sunday morning and will bat in the five-hole as the Phillies look to clinch a series victory over the New York Mets. Bohm has been sidelined since the end of August with a hand injury but will return just in time to boost the Philly lineup down the stretch. Before the injury, the 28-year-old carried a strong .272/.292/.412 line with eight doubles, two home runs, 18 RBI, and one stolen base in his past 28 games. Under the hood, he boasts a stellar .298 xBA, which is one of the best marks in the sport, and an excellent 13.6% K rate. Bohm should be locked into all starting lineups down the stretch and is a viable DFS option this afternoon as he will face Mets southpaw David Peterson.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Philadelphia Phillies

6 days agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios tossed seven innings of one-run ball in Saturday's 7-2 victory over the Cardinals, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out four on the way to earning his 16th win of the season. It was the 30-year-old's seventh consecutive quality start and 20th on the season. The 2x All-Star has been good at home, posting a 10-2 record with a 2.69 ERA, and has put together a nice season overall, with a 3.44 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 12.5% K-BB% to go with his 16-9 record.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

6 days agoCincinnati Reds outfielder TJ Friedl was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in Saturday's 12-1 win over the Twins. The 29-year-old homered for the second straight game and has now gone 7-for-8 against Twins pitchers the last two days, tallying five RBI and four runs scored in the process. Now the author of a .233-13-53-34-9 line through 74 games played, one wonders what that line could have looked like had he been able to stay healthy all season long. With his strong contact rate and low strikeout rate, he could still finish the season with a flurry of production.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

6 days agoBaltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson stuffed the stat sheet in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Tigers, going 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, two RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base in the contest. The 23-year-old is riding a six-game hit streak and has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games. The former second-round draft pick is slashing .375/.446/.750 in September and is following up his Rookie of the Year campaign with an even stronger season, tallying a .283-37-87-113-19 line with a .389 wOBA and 159 wRC+, trailing only Bobby Witt Jr. for the top-producing fantasy shortstop.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

6 days agoPhiladelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper belted a pair of home runs in a 2-for-4 day at the plate in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Mets. The 31-year-old drove in three runs and scored twice in the contest. Both home runs came off of Mets starter Luis Severino and gave him 28 on the year. The 8x All-Star is red-hot in September, slashing .400/.460/.689 in 12 games so far. For the season, the 2x MVP has a robust .290-28-82-79-5 line with a .386 wOBA and 149 wRC+, making him a top option at first base for fantasy.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

6 days agoMilwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored in Saturday's 15-8 win over the Diamondbacks. The 26-year-old's bat has cooled somewhat in September, slashing .231/.354/.436 for the month, but overall he is having a fantastic season, leading all catchers in fantasy with a strong .280-22-88-94-6 line with a .358 wOBA and 131 wRC+. He'll look to finish strong as September has been his second-best month batting average-wise for his career, hitting .308 during the final month since 2020.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

6 days agoMilwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames went 3-for-3 with a walk, a pair of home runs, five RBI, and two runs scored in Saturday's 15-8 romp over the Diamondbacks. The first home run came in the second inning with the bases loaded and the grand slam gave the Brewers an 8-0 lead early. The second came two innings later, a solo shot that gave the team a 12-0 cushion. The 29-year-old is having arguably the best season of his career, putting together a .253-32-107-87-18 line with a .348 wOBA and 124 wRC+. He's currently the NL leader in the RBI category while the 32 home runs and 18 stolen bases are both career highs.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
