2 weeks agoWashington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. tallied just 36 yards on 11 rushing attempts in the NFC title game. The Commanders played from behind throughout the game as the Eagles got out to an early lead. As a result, this put Robinson out of the game plan. However, when given the ball, the Alabama product was ineffective, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry. Last weekend, Robinson tallied 77 yards and two scores on 15 carries in their upset victory over the Detroit Lions. After averaging a solid 64 rushing yards per game during his first 10 games, Robinson saw his production decline over the back half of the season. Over his final seven games of the 2024 season, Robinson eclipsed 60 rushing yards in just two games and scored just two touchdowns. Given his inconsistent production, the Commanders will likely address this position in the offseason.Source: ESPN.com

2 weeks agoPhiladelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell (concussion) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's NFC Championship against the Washington Commanders. He had eight rushing yards prior to his departure, as well as an additional two catches for 16 receiving yards. Gainwell has operated as the Eagles' No. 2 running back all season long, taking a backseat to Saquon Barkley, who is a candidate for MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. As the Eagles look to close out the Commanders on Sunday, rookie Will Shipley will step up as the No. 2 option behind Barkley.Source: Adam Schefter
2 weeks agoThe Tennessee Titans have added Dave Ziegler to their front office, hiring him as assistant general manager, according to Albert Breer of The MMQB. Ziegler was once a promising, up-and-coming executive in the Patriots' front office, and he used the Patriots' success from last decade to land a job as the Las Vegas Raiders' general manager in 2022. However, he was fired by Las Vegas less than two years later when the team also relieved head coach Josh McDaniels. Ziegler joined the Saints' front office for the 2024 season, and now, he'll have a high-ranking role in the Titans' front office under newly-hired general manager Mike Borgonzi. Tennessee is certainly constructing a talented front office as they prepare to make the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.Source: Albert Breer

2 weeks agoDallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer will likely retire from coaching in the NFL, he told ESPN.com's Ed Werder. Zimmer was not expected to remain on new head coach Brian Schottenheimer's coaching staff with Matt Eberflus taking the defensive coordinator position. Rather than search for a new job within the league, the 68-year-old will step away from football. His career path included a previous stint with the Cowboys roughly three decades ago. He won Super Bowl XXX with Dallas and was eventually promoted to defensive coordinator. After stints with the Falcons and Bengals, he was hired as the Minnesota Vikings' head coach, spending eight seasons in the NFC North. His Vikings won the division twice, and they advanced to the NFC Championship after finishing the 2017 regular season with a 13-3 record. After Zimmer was fired by the Vikings in January 2022, he spent one year each with Jackson State University, the University of Colorado Boulder, and the Cowboys.Source: Ed Werder
2 weeks agoPhiladelphia Eagles center Cam Jurgens (back) will not play on Sunday despite being listed as active, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Enquirer. There had been plenty of chatter about Jurgens' status leading up to kickoff, with some reports indicating he'd be inactive. In the end, the Eagles listed him as active, but McLane now reports that he's still not expected to play. Fortunately for Philadelphia, their surplus of offensive line depth will allow them to handle this news without major consequences. Landon Dickerson will move to center, where he played in college, while Tyler Steen takes over at left guard.Source: Jeff McLane
2 weeks agoAccording to Scott Abraham of 7News DC, Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jer'Zhan Newton is expected to have a more significant role with Daron Payne (finger) sidelined. Payne sustained this finger injury during their wild-card victory over the Buccaneers but faced a setback during their upset victory over the Detroit Lions last weekend. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Newton to start alongside Jonathan Allen on the Washington defensive line. During the regular season, Newton tallied 44 tackles, two sacks, and forced a fumble. Newton and the Commanders will have a tall task ahead of them, facing Saquon Barkley, who has tallied 148 rushing yards per game with four scores against them this season. As a result, the Washington defense should be viewed as a high-risk option in DFS formats.Source: Scott Abraham
2 weeks agoAccording to the team, Washington Commanders quarterback Jeff Driskel (illness) is listed as the team's emergency quarterback for the NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Driskel carried a questionable tag on the team's final injury report with an illness. He was unable to practice on Thursday and Friday. The Louisiana Tech product will only be able to enter this contest if both Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota suffer an injury during the game. Driskel logged just one offensive snap for the Commanders this season and did not attempt a pass.Source: Washington Commanders PR
2 weeks agoAccording to the team, Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver Ainias Smith is inactive for Sunday's NFC title game against the Washington Commanders. The rookie wideout will be a healthy scratch. The Texas A&M product was also inactive during the first two games of the playoffs. Throughout the regular season, Smith saw a limited role as he caught just three passes through the first 17 weeks. However, in Week 18, Smith caught all four of his targets for 35 yards and a score. Fantasy managers should expect A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jahan Dotson to operate as the top wideouts in the Philadelphia offense in this contest.Source: Philadelphia Eagles
2 weeks agoAccording to the team, Philadelphia Eagles center Cam Jurgens (back) is officially active for Sunday's NFC title game against the Washington Commanders. Jurgens opened the week as a non-participant but was able to log two limited sessions to end the week but still carried a questionable tag on the final injury report. However, the starting center was able to turn the corner in time to suit up. Fantasy managers should expect Jurgens to see most of the snaps in this contest. However, if he were to face a setback during the contest, Landon Dickerson would likely take over center duties which would force Tyler Steen to shift over to left guard.Source: Philadelphia Eagles
2 weeks agoAccording to the team, Washington Commanders defensive end Javontae Jean-Baptiste (shoulder) is officially active for Sunday's NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Jean-Baptiste was a limited participant during practice throughout the week and carried a questionable tag on the final injury report. However, the 24-year-old lineman was able to turn the corner. Jean-Baptiste has been deployed as a rotational piece on the defensive one throughout the regular season but could have a slightly increased role in this contest with defensive tackle Daron Payne (finger) inactive. During the postseason, Jean-Baptiste has tallied three tackles and one assist.Source: Washington Commanders PR
2 weeks agoAccording to the team, Washington Commanders wide receiver K.J. Osborn and running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. are both inactive for Sunday's NFC title game against the Philadelphia Eagles. They are healthy scratches. Both players were inactive during the first two rounds of the playoffs and will sit out again. Osborn has played in just one game since joining the Commanders off waivers in December. Rodriguez has operated in a depth change-of-pace role during the regular season and averaged a solid 4.9 yards per carry. As a result, fantasy managers should expect receivers Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown, and Olamide Zaccheaus to operate as the top wideouts, while Brian Robinson Jr., Austin Ekeler, and Jeremy McNichols are deployed out of the backfield.Source: Washington Commanders PR
2 weeks agoAccording to the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Dallas Cowboys requested to interview Atlanta Falcons tight ends coach Kevin Koger for their offensive-coordinator job, according to a source. The Cowboys are looking for a new offensive coordinator after promoting previous OC Brian Schottenheimer to head coach this week. Koger was the tight ends coach for the Los Angeles Chargers from 2021-23 before joining the Falcons this past season. It's unclear if Schottenheimer will still be in charge of calling plays for the Cowboys offense in 2025 now that he's in the head-coach role, but we should have more clarity on that once Dallas chooses their new offensive coordinator. If it's Koger, it's unlikely he'd be the one calling plays since he has no previous experience as an OC in the NFL.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
2 weeks agoColorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the son of former NFL cornerback Deion Sanders, said on Saturday that he's unsure if he will throw at this year's NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis in February. Sanders will attend the East-West Shrine Bowl but will not practice or play in the game this Thursday. Although Sanders doesn't have elite athleticism and is more of a pocket passer, he's fully expected to be a top-three selection in the 2025 NFL draft with plenty of teams searching desperately for a franchise signal-caller. He met with the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants on Friday, teams that hold the top three picks in the draft. Sanders and Miami's Cam Ward are considered two of the best QB prospects this year in what is generally viewed as a very weak class at the position.Source: ESPN.com - Daniel Oyefusi
