Miguel Sano Could Play Winter Ball; Byron Buxton Will Not
6 years agoThe Minnesota Twins are hoping that third baseman Miguel Sano (knee) will play winter ball in the Dominican Republic, but outfielder Byron Buxton will not play winter ball. If Sano's knee checks out fine, he should play winter ball as he looks to improve after hitting a disappointing .199/.281/.398 with 13 home runs and 41 RBI. He was sent down the minors at one point and finished the year on the shelf with a knee injury. Sano's needle is pointing down, but he's still worth a late-round flier for his power with the hope that he can rebound in 2019. Buxton has become a bust after teasing with his upside at the end of the 2017 season. He hit just .156/.183/.200 with no homers, four RBI and five steals in just 90 at-bats for the Twins in 2018 before being sent to the minors, where he finished the year with an injury.
