Marcell Ozuna: Mashing His Way to your UTIL Spot
17 hours agoIt was another monster year for Ozuna at the plate. The veteran righty mashed his way to a .302/.378/.546 along with 39 homers and 96 RBI. Statcast suggest that Ozuna earned his numbers with a .402 xwOBA and .573 xSLG. He may be 34 years old, but don't let age scare you away. Ozuna was still in the 96th percentile in barrel rate and hard-hit rate last season, and finished in the top 5% in max exit velocity. Ozuna projects to bat in the heart of a loaded Atlanta order, so there will be plenty of RBI opportunities for the big man in 2025. Don't expect him to repeat the .302 AVG as it took a .359 BABIP from a man who is in the 14th percentile of sprint speed in MLB. He can't run he can't field he can't throw, but man can he hit. He may be utility only, but he's earning that utility spot with elite production. If Ozuna was OF eligible he'd be a top-50 player, so take that discount around pick 67 and grab yourself a DH.
