The Athletics received a positive update on injured right-hander Luis Severino (oblique) after he was evaluated in West Sacramento, according to manager Mark Kotsay. The team will provide more information later, but Kotsay revealed that the A's received better news than they expected. Severino has been on the 15-day injured list since Aug. 6 with a strained left oblique. While oblique injuries often lead to long absences, it now looks as if Severino will have a chance to pitch again before the A's season ends. Severino has had a rough first year with the A's, having gone 6-11 with a 4.82 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 103:44 K:BB in 136 1/3 innings.--Connor Byrne
