Logan Gilbert, Mariners Avoid Arbitration
3 months agoAccording to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Seattle Mariners and starting pitcher Logan Gilbert have settled on a $7.625 million contract to avoid salary arbitration. Gilbert is coming off the best season of his career, posting a 3.23 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP. His 208 2/3 innings of work led the major leagues. He showcased elite command with a 4.6% walk rate. He generated strikeouts at a strong 27.4% K rate and whiffs at a solid 31.7% rate. He also generated a 3.14 xERA, placing him in the 87th percentile among qualified hitters. Gilbert has been one of the most reliable workhorse pitchers in the sport, making at least 32 starts each of the past three seasons. Fantasy managers should draft Gilbert with confidence as he carries one of the highest floors among starting pitchers. In addition, he should significantly improve your WHIP ratio, given his elite control.

Logan Gilbert Named Opening Day Starter
2 weeks agoSeattle Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert has been named the team's Opening Day starter for March 27 against the division-rival Athletics, according to The Seattle Times' Ryan Divish. Although Gilbert hasn't looked great in spring training action -- he's allowed four runs while walking five and striking out eight over 5 1/3 innings -- fantasy managers should have him locked into their lineups when he takes the hill against the A's to kick things off in 2025. The 27-year-old former 14th overall pick in 2018 out of Stetson University has been a workhorse for Seattle the last three years and was a first-time All-Star in 2024, when he went 9-12 with a 3.23 ERA (3.27 FIP), a league-best 0.89 WHIP, a career-high 220 strikeouts and only 37 walks in a league-high 208 2/3 innings over his 33 starts. Gilbert is a big reason why the M's are considered to have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. He's a fantasy ace.

He finishes the season with nine wins, a 3.23 ERA, a league-leading 0.89 WHIP, and 220 strikeouts in 208 ⅔ IP. The 27-year-old blossomed into an ace this year and should be one of the first pitchers off the board in fantasy drafts in 2025.

Logan Gilbert Allows Three Homers In Loss Tuesday
6 months agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert fell to 8-12 in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Astros. Gilbert pitched six innings, allowing four runs on five hits (including three home runs) and a walk with six strikeouts. Home runs have been an issue for the 27-year-old in September, as he allowed eight long balls in five starts and 31 1/3 IP. Gilbert's second half was not as good as his first half, but he will presumably finish the season with a solid 3.33 ERA, a 0.91 WHIP, and a 9.44 K/9 rate in 32 starts and 203 IP. Gilbert proved himself to be a high-floor innings eater this season for fantasy managers and will likely see his fantasy stock rise for the 2025 season.
