The New York Jets requested to interview New Orleans Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi for their head-coach opening, according to a source. While it's highly unlikely Rizzi would be the man to get the Jets' head-coaching position, he did enough in his short time as the Saints' interim coach to be considered for open head-coaching positions. The 54-year-old took over in the Big Easy when the Saints fired Dennis Allen in the middle of the season and he led the team to a 3-5 record to close out the year, even though starting quarterback Derek Carr (hand) only played in four games due to injury. Rizzi joined the Saints as their special teams coordinator in 2019 and was promoted to assistant head coach in 2022. He was also the Miami Dolphins' special teams coordinator from 2010-18. Most likely, New York will go with a candidate with previous head-coaching experience.--Keith Hernandez
