According to the team, the Detroit Red Wings placed defenseman Jeff Petry (undisclosed) on Injured Reserve, retroactive to Jan. 2. The 37-year-old sustained this injury on Jan. 2 during their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets and will not be eligible to return until Friday. However, seeing him placed on Injured Reserve now suggests that he may have a longer recovery window. Through 34 games this season, Petry has scored one goal and tallied five helpers. He has logged 39 hits with 56 blocked shots. While sidelined, Albert Johansson will continue to draw starts.--Andy Smith
