The Atlanta Falcons are expected to interview Lou Anarumo for their defensive coordinator vacancy later this week, according to Colleen Wolfe of NFL Media. The position has been open ever since the Falcons fired Jimmy Lake following his first season in the role. Anarumo was also fired earlier this month, losing his job after the Cincinnati Bengals missed the playoffs. Cincinnati's defense produced mixed results under Anarumo's leadership. He's capable of developing a versatile and adaptable defensive game plan while gaining an advantage over opposing offenses in pre-snap situations. However, there is no ignoring that the Bengals, who fell just shy of a playoff berth, allowed the seventh-most points, fourth-most first downs, and fourth-most touchdowns. One other interesting wrinkle to this developing story, as Wolfe noted, is that Anarumo has familiarity with Falcons star safety Jessie Bates from their time together with the Bengals. They overlapped for four years in Cincinnati, and during that span, Bates forced 14 turnovers. He was named All-Pro Second Team in 2020.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller
