Davis Thompson Looking For Consistency At Sony Open
3 days agoDavis Thompson kicked off his 2025 PGA Tour season with a very up-and-down T36 finish at The Sentry last week. As expected, Thompson gained strokes off the tee throughout the tournament, but his putter was inconsistent. On Day 1, Thompson lost 3.1 strokes putting to the field, followed that up on Day 2 with 1.6 strokes gained, lost 0.4 strokes on Day 3, and gained 0.7 strokes on Day 4. Thompson has now lost strokes putting to the field in four of his last five starts on tour and ranks 83rd in Bermuda-grass putting over the last 36 rounds. Thompson also doesn't have an extensive history at Waialae, having only competed there twice, with finishes of T57 and T54. However, since his last appearance in 2024, Thompson has recorded 13 top-25 finishes in 27 tour starts. The upside is certainly there, but at a course where good putting is rewarded, Thompson's price of $8,500 means that fantasy managers should tread carefully before inserting him into their lineups.
