Chicago Cubs (-135) @ Philadelphia Phillies
O/U: 10
The Cubs and Phillies square off in a southpaw battle in the City of Brotherly Love on Tuesday evening.
Cubs LHP Jose Quintana takes the ball from manager Joe Maddon. The Cubbies have posted seven straight victories over his past seven outings, and they're 7-3 across the past 10 games overall while going 5-1 in the past six against winning teams. While the Cubs have struggled against lefties, going 4-10 in the past 14 vs. LHP, they're a solid 9-4 in the past 13 following a scheduled day off.
The Phillies have been ice cold, dropping five of the past six games overall, and they're just 2-5 in the past seven tries vs. LHP. In addition, they have been sluggish following lengthy journeys, going 2-6 in the past eight home games following a road trip of seven or more days. As an added bonus, the over is 4-1 in the past five meetings in this series, although the under is 7-3-1 in Chicago's past 11 on the road, and 7-0 in Philly's past seven against NL Centra foes and 10-2 in the past 12 following a scheduled day off.
My Pick: Cubs (-135)
New York Mets @ Atlanta Braves (-125)
O/U: 9.5
The Mets have been blazing hot lately, but a trip to suburban Atlanta to face the Braves will certainly put that to the test.
New York has won 21 of the past 27 games overall, and they're 5-1 in the past six on the road while going 4-1 in the past five against winning teams. They're also 4-1 in RHP Zack Wheeler's past five outings, but 2-5 in his past seven against teams with a winning overall record, and 1-5 in his past six on the road against teams with a winning overall mark. They're also facing Atlanta's LHP Max Fried, and New York has posted just a 1-4 mark in the past five on the road vs. LHP.
Atlanta has won four straight starts by Fried, and they're 5-2 across his past seven at SunTrust Park while going 4-1 in his past five at home against winning sides. The Braves are also a perfect 7-0 in his past seven tries against winning teams. The Mets have won just once in the past five trips to Atlanta, and they're 2-6 in the past eight meetings overall against the Braves.
My Pick: Braves (-125)
St. Louis Cardinals (-225) @ Kansas City Royals
O/U: 10
The Cardinals have struggled lately, losing five straight games on the road. They're also just 4-11 in RHP Jack Flaherty's past 15 outings on the road, and 1-4 in his past five against teams with a losing overall mark. However, St. Louis has been getting off to hot starts lately, going 6-2 in the past eight in Game 1 of a new series, while going 7-2 in the past nine road outings against teams with a home winning percentage under .400. The Cards are also an impressive 37-15 across the past 52 against teams with a winning percentage south of .400.
For the Royals, they have won just once in the past seven at home while going 2-10 in the past 12 interleague home battles against a team with a winning overall mark. They're also 1-5 in the past six at home vs. RHP. As far as RHP Glenn Sparkman is concerned, the Royals are 1-5 in his past six starts, while going 0-4 in the past four outings against teams with a winning overall mark. Take the Cards on the run line.
My Pick: Cardinals (-1.5, -130)
