San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon will need to learn how to hold onto the football if he wants to become the team's lead back. Gordon, who had just seven carries for 29 yards on Sunday, didn't get a single carry after halftime due to a pair of first-half fumbles.
The Chargers have plenty of options at running back this season with both Danny Woodhead and Branden Oliver proving more than capable of carrying the workload. I'd consider Gordon a RB4 at best heading into the Chargers Week 7 matchup against the Oakland Raiders.
Don't start him until he earns his way back into the Chargers' starting lineup. Unfortunately, that may take until next season.
